ave an Athearn HO RS-3 that I want to change the road name of. I got the shell 99% disassembled but has these metal grab irons right where I need to mask off the design and add some decals. My question is, how do these grab irons come off? Anyone know what type of glue they use to attach them? If it's CA I can use debonder to get them off with out screwing them up too much.
BTW, I changing the RS from a Rio Grande to an Erie rig. The RG is beautifully done but I need an Erie loco. Don't know why I felt compelled to tell you that but now y'all know.

Maybe you told us that just to tick off the guy who really needs a Rio Grande RS-3 but can only find ones painted for the Erie?

Thats my bigest problem, the decals go where they are.
Well, for those that want to know, I answered my own question. The grab irons CAN be removed. I grabbed them with a pair of needle nose pliers and gently pulled them off. I only ruined one of them and a couple of others got deformed, but the broken one I'll replace with wire. The deformed ones I'll gently bend back to shape.
