Mr. Grant, NIce layout. I always enjoy the pics from you.
Jeffrey, Your layout is improving constantly. I like the fact that you removed much of the clutter and your photo quality helps a ton.
I built a small car card shelf and will attempt to share a short video of a proposed steel trestle location.
The video should show 2 SD35's pulling up to the summit after negotiating the proposed bridge, with an F3 AB arriving from Nevada into Victorville. I know, there was now such arrangement but it sure looks cool.

Here's what little progress I've made on the layout the last couple of weeks. It doesn't look like much. Well, okay, it isn't much, but with a crazy work schedule and wife's night/weekend classes and rowdy kids, trust me, it represents my only tenuous hold on sanity lately.
Great photos this weekend, everyone.

Here's something I'm working on in my spare time. It's an all paper structure (with the exception of the base).I found the link to the plans on another forum and printed one out and decided to cut it out and build it. I still have to put on some details and install the roof. This is what I have so far.
I hope to have it completed by tomorrow night.
Great work Mr B

Wiring is not exciting. However, the results can be fun to look at. I spent some time on Penny Lane, wiring up the interior lights to a couple of local businesses. First, this is a retake of an old photo some of you may remember, with some lighting added inside Woolworths.
From the other end of the street, I got this evening scene of Madame Adrienne's fortune telling parlor ("Sees All, Knows All") and Suzanne's House of Beef.
Finally, here's the Upstairs, Downstairs view from the edge of the layout. Penny Lane (the street) sits atop Penny Lane (the subway station.) Here, the new R22's wait for passengers.

A couple of weeks back I posted pictures of my model of the depot in Silver Plume, CO. I'm now working on the diorama it will be part of. The track plan, for the most part, reflects the current track arrangement at the actual site. I had to omit a third siding that sets "north" of the depot because of lack of space. This is a view from the "east". The track is Microscale On30, as are the switches, and it is still awaiting ballast. The track in the area where the engine house will go is unfinished, because I haven't located the model structure that will go there yet. I know only that I don't want to model the modern concrete block engine house that currently exists at Silver Plume. I am looking for something more "John Allen-ish".
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

The day is over for the vast majority of members, so I will post my second image at the start of a new day. It will be my last this weekend. I thought I would provide a view from the opposite direction of the first.
Friday night, on second page already, all I can say is WOW!Great work everbody. Working on ground cover and some ballasting, then got to do some traveling this weekend. Try to get section done and posted Sunday.

That casting was piece of a WS random stone retaining wall that I trimmed off. Did you do anything with drainage culverts yet?
Hey, hey, hey! Some great work already showing up here. About all I have to contribute is some more work on the caboose interior I am scratch building. I have added the capola lofts complete with an ice box on what will be the kitchen side and a storage cabinet on the other one, added the conductors desk, a table for the crew to have lunch, and kerosene lamps. I am still waiting on some detail parts to arrive from Walthers Out Of Stock to complete the kitchen and the toilet areas. Anyone out there have any suggestions on how to build a chemical stove for the kitchen out of scraps?
HO Scale BTW.

jeffrey-wimberly wrote: My new project this last week has been this retaining put in for erosion control. It took the better part of two days to complete. First measuring the area to see how long and how high the wall should be, then cutting the pieces to fit. Had to do that outside. Cutting plaster makes a lot of gypsum dust, not to mention a mess. Then setting the pieces and gluing them in place. After they were dry I put in the fill which is just finely sifted sand. Gave that a good soaking with alcohol followed by a 50/50 glue/water mix and topped with WS green blended turf.

Jeffrey,
now these are the rocks you casted whole retaining walls right? When I first started this hobby I made cake sheets of plaster and chipped every rock one by one to get thats effect. Now I cheat and carve foam lol I still have the old rock walls tho. Yours looks great.

Jon,
I myself am a huge fan of your work. Such detail and all the things one might find if he or she looked hard enough. Love the crane in the back ground as well as the other buildings.
