Hey i run mostly streetcar city stuff but for giggles I do plan on having the city cars meet with cp rdc's at the stations. I have a limited number of VIA equipment which I can run as well if I feel like being a little more modern. Rob

I'm planning an N-scale all-passenger layout. So far, I have VIA Rail, GO Train, and Algoma Central locomotives; with cars for VIA and GO Train. I'm toying with doing the tourist train run by the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield RR; but I'm not really a big fan of steam trains.

So far, I have focused on Canadian passenger rail of the late 20th C to present; but I dream of having a Japanese bullet train or a German ICE. Also, I have to find a source for N-scale AC passenger cars (found one in HO; but not N).

What type of streetcars are you running? I've looked at the Bachmann HO PCC cars before and at first glance they look cheesy, but after studying a photo, I think they have potential with some modifying.

With the resurgence in light rail here in the U.S, it seems like more modelers are becoming interested in street cars and interurbans.

Antonio fp45, it nice to hear from you. My Eastern Railroad is a 1950's railroad. My love for passenger train of that time is what I run mainly on my railroad. About 75 o/o of the time.

I run VIA Rai, BC Rail (RDC's) and Amtrak passenger trains on my Can-Am HO layout.

The VIA consists are of the Budd car variety seen today on the Canadian and Ocean (alas - soon to be replaced by those Renaissance "Euro" cars!) along with a smoothsides blue/yellow beauty last seen in the early 90's on the Ocean. The Budd equipment is made by Con-Cor and the smoothsides by Rivarossi. Locomotives are Trainline F40PH's for the Budd consists and IHC EMD E-8 "A/A" units for the smoothsides.

The BC Rail RDC's are LifeLike RDC-3's running on a point to point mountain route in the center of my pike.

The Amtrak equipment is made by Trainline and features four consists of Superliner I's and II's along with Amfleet and Horizon cars. The Superliners are are powered by an Athearn AMD103 P40 (or P42) along with an EMD F40PH. Amfleet and Horizon by Trainline and Bachmann F40PH.

There are 8 full consists in my Union Station, sitting at their respective covered platforms. The station and platforms are Walthers Cornerstone.

All my other locomotives are in sidings and engine houses - a total of 30 for the pike.

I run two CP/CP Rail freights and two CN freights, just to add to the flavor of it all. But, passenger operations are the keystone for my pike.

The period I have tried to model would be the 90's to present date, with all vehicles and buildings pretty much of the modern variety.

i usually run my chesapeake and ohio passenger coaches with my 2-8-0 Northern, and let my Mogul run the freight service.

I now have 14 85' passenger cars in my collection with a combination of F units, PA's & AMD103's & P42's to pull them.

I model CSX operations like intermodal andother stuff. Occasionally i have an Amtrak run through the layout. It's not finished yet, but it's gonna get finished someday!!!

The area I'm modelling - northeast Minnesota - was served by the Duluth Winnepeg and Pacific (a CN line) and ran freight and passenger trains down to Duluth. Also, most people don't realize the CN mainline runs south of the Lake of the Woods thru northern MN, thru International Falls and Warroad. Plus my freelance model railroad runs up to what's now Thunder Bay, Ontario so I put a little of everything in there !!

At the moment, in construction-and-test mode, I'm running a consist of KIHA17 class DMU, a (derailment prone) D50 class 2-8-2 with both freight and passenger consists and several other diesels and motors. In fully-capable mode, the one visible mainline station will be the terminus for a city-to-countryside electric MU service, engine change point where steam gets swapped for motors (to keep coal smoke out of a very long tunnel) and stopping point for every through passenger train, even the KIHA80 class DMU limited expresses. That's 93 passenger movements (plus a dozen freights) on a busy day.

Howcum the odd number of movements? Two separate trains, each consisting of a pair of EMU cars, return as a single 4-car train.

I've been slowly building up my fleet of aluminum Mantua 72-foot streamlined cars. I had two from a long time ago, plus a Milwaukee F7A of 60's vintage. I de-motored another F7A, and recently I've found more coaches on eBay. Today I added an F7B (dummy) to the train - it looks great. The A-B-A power and the 4 long cars look just about right on my 5-foot by 12-foot HO railroad.

Under the first layer of foam, there's a subway system using those Lifelike R-17's. It's just a loop with a passing siding, but there are ramps up and down to the surface. Like the old Boston MTA, I run both these cars and a Bowser PCC car, although I freelance enough to run them both on the same track.

I've got freight and MOW, too, but after I got the observation car for my passenger train it's assumed a more dominant position. I've got a nice set of old-timers packed away in a box awaiting restoration as an "excursion train," and a few other miscellaneous cars which are mostly in pieces. Someday...

You're probably right Antonio.
TA462 offered to let me run a train on his club layout at one of the local shows recently.
I unfortunately wesn't able to make it but if the offer comes up again (HINT HINT!!!)
I would plan on taking my D&H PA & my 2 D&H coaches & dome car to run, maybe a few more cars [:D]
