UP2CSX, I was wondering about the "interceptor" badge on the back myself!
A buddy of mine has a '99 which he got off Ebay & I got to go & pick up at the dealership in Van Wert, Ohio, & then drive back across the state home. If I'm able, I'll maybe try a little photo reduction for the badge. Although it still has it's spotlights, it has standard hubcaps, rear inside door handles & light blue in color. (no divider appears to ever been installed also-possibly a detective or "brass" car)
I love these cars. A fella in Calif sells cream of the crop ex CHP cars on Ebay, & in the next year or 2, may try to get one of those myself.

I picked up a Crown Vic made by Busch of Germany. It's not a bad model of a Crown Vic police car but, after 25 years riding around in them, there were things that just didn't look right. I know there are active and retired police officers here so I thought I'd post what I've done. The rest of you can probably take a short nap.
The first picture shows the officer out doing a welfare check on a lady standing by her convertible. The mods I made were adding a push bar (from tiny brass stock), taking off the light bar and replacing the domes with more translucent colored plastic, and adding a new center section with a siren/speaker grill. Red and blue strobes have been added to the front face of the rearview mirrors. I also have takedowns and alley lights but they are hard to see since my camera's macro mode isn't the greatest:
From the rear, I added two flashing ambers to the light bar and an antenna to the trunk. It's also hard to see because it's so small but it's supposed to be a model of an Antenna Specialists VHF hi-gain antenna. I replaced the taillight lenses with more translucent plastic as well and they seem to look lit as long as there's any kind of ambient light:
I'd still like to add spotlights to both sides if I could either find them ready-made or come up with a decent way to scratchbuild them. I tried jewels and they looked pretty tacky. I'm thinking locomotive lenses might work if I can find them in the right size - the normal lense is huge for a 7" spotlight. Oh, I also got rid of the full wheel covers and now just have the lug nut covers. I don't know how many of you got your Crown Vics with the full wheel covers but we did - for one year - and half of them were gone in about two weeks. They just don't make them to stay on at 110 mph. I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a little "Police Interceptor" decal?

Very good pics so far this week! I haven't got much done on the RR this week but I have run the trains a few evenings, (That's what it's all about isn't it?). I started working on my scratch built barn and have gotten the scale lumber on order and have some shingles, tin roofing and some GOW bulbs that will be here probley Tues.
I picked this up at Hobby Lobby today and will start on it in a few days.

I don't think its overboard at all. If you look at some trains that have been bought by another company, its painted over. I made it look like it has faded/paint peelling to make the Southern show threw. One car I did like that went for $65.00 on eBay and it look worse than that, as far as the cover up, fade, etc.
Im not one of the misguided souls, as far as NS/N&W/Sou/Srr, etc. I buy the cars I like I weather them for people, and I weather as how they would like to see them. I have had several people email me wanting another car like this one on eBay, and I finally got one ready.
So... I gues some people like them overboard.

The subway walls and platform bases are hydrocal castings. I bought one sheet each of Evergreen's "Tile" and "Sidewalk" styrene, and then made a latex mold from that. The flat sections are straight from the casting, cut to size. For the curved sections, I took a piece of 1x2, rounded the corners and then folded the casting and mold around it after the hydrocal had set for 10-12 minutes, enough that it was firm, but not hard.
The paint is a gloss cream color out of a rattle can. I used an India Ink in water wash over it, and then a second light spray of paint. I hand-painted the stripes with acrylic.
As for keeping the Brewery workers from sampling too much of the product? Well, with a Strumpet beer, that's never been a problem.

Nice paint scheme there, Driline. I always liked SW's. Did you have any problems with the long handrail on the hood being deformed? I have an NKP SW8 that arrived with one handrail that looked like it melted or something.

Excellent work EVERYONE... I am still kicking around the idea of putting foam sheets down in the yard or mounting the track directly to the foam base....
Walt, is this a shortline yard or a Class 1 type yard? If it's a shortline yard, I'd lay the tracks right on the existing foam. Most shortline yards didn't spend a lot of money grading yards and, if they did, the tracks have long ago sunk down to ground level. Class 1 roads usually laid yard tracks like sidings. They weren't as high as the mainline but they still have a definite profile. You could either use foam cut to width for each track or cork or WS roadbed. If you look at my first photo with the yard, I laid the drill tracks on WS roadbed but then beveled the yard trackage to run down off the roadbed to the foam to give that "neglected" look to the yard.

Back to the subways in Moose Bay. I've been doing un-exciting but still necessary infrastructure work the last couple of weeks. The light bulbs had all burned out in the Saint Anne Street subway station, so I set about replacing them. I used 16-volt bulbs this time, and re-wired the circuit to use 10 volts. This gives me the level of illumination I want and the bulbs should last a long time. Now, the brighter, safer stations have brought back some entertainment, as Woody Seenik plays for spare change:
When I turned on the lights for the first time and looked in, I noticed that vandals had knocked down the "Saint Anne Street" signs, all 3 of them. Serves me right put putting them up with rubber cement. I located my long tweezers and some CA, and put them back up. Down at the other end of the station, you can see the sign back on the wall. A couple of kids are down there, about as far away as they can get from that "cowboy music." Well, it ain't what they call rock 'n' roll.
Here's the over and under. The Strumpet Brewery, a Walthers "background building," sits directly above the station. It's on the edge of the layout, so I'm detailing the interior.
Here's a pic of my last Davenport Rock Island & Northwestern switcher that I painted and decaled this last week. This will complete my trio of engines so now I can begin to operate on the layout. Its a Proto 2000 SW8 WITH QSI SOUND & DCC. It operates great!
Heres the other two engines and the caboose I painted & decaled that all go together.
Last but not least is the "Bar Mills" brand Collards Creek Motor Park. I painted and put this little beauty together last week also. I added the trailer park sign on the front of the builing, as it will be the main building in my trailer park.

I think you might have gone a little overboard with the weathering there. Isn't the Southern supposed to remain visible? Unless, of course, you are one of those poor, misguided souls who model the Norfolk Southern?

Some really nice pics so far. Wolfgang, you've got the nicest billboard on any layout. The 44 tonner isn't bad either. Darn, I start these and always forget who posted what. That turntable has some incredible detail. Jeffrey, it looks like winter is turning to spring on your layout. Great WM videos. They make me feel like I'm really at trackside with you.
Anyway, it's time for a fill-up for the P&N 638. Spike is handling the fuel hose while Billy Ray, President and CEO of the P&N, supervises to make sure the Texaco dealer doesn't cheat him. Billy Ray always says the railroad is "fixin to" put in a fuel tank but they haven't gotten around to it yet:

Finally back from Asia. Last weekend took a short steam excursion. The loco and all the cars were built in Sweden and brought to Canada in the early 1990s. Loco was built in 1901. Thought you might be interested in their turntable...2 people push the handle at each end and she swings around with ease.
I had a chance to get in the cab and take a pic, which I combined with a layout pic...the oncoming loco is a P2K 0-6-0. Obviously, used photoshop to create the effect.

I think I've gone a little over-board in my retaining wall plan. I started off to make just ten castings. Well, I decided what's the harm with doing just one more? Now I have nineteen castings with number twenty in the mold!
