1st Place Hobbies has a lot of ditch lights on their site. Just type ditch lights into their search box. They had a generic set with boxes, lights and wire leads for around $13. The type that mount by the front railing. I just tried to find them again but can't.

Did you mean, you can't find the $13 operating set?  Neither could I, they have 2 pages of items...

...but the only operating ones, on the bottom of Page 2, kind of gave me sticker shock...Shock [:O]

Correct. I stumbled across them in another category. They didn't come up when I did a search for ditch lights. I think I saw them in the passenger car section.

These looked like you would just drill two holes in the cat walk next to the front railing stanchions. Thread the wire leads through the holes, glue the boxes to the cat walk and wire the leads to your decoder. Keep in mind I don't know if these are prototypical for your type of loco. You should do a search for pictures of your loco for proper style and placement.

This might help. I don't think it includes the housings, but Walthers has a bunch of different style housings on their site.
