2-4 weeks for my Rio GRande SD70ACe, I am so excited
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, August 24, 2007 2:05 AM
I just wanted to tell some people who actually know what I am talking about when I say I am getting the new Rio Grande SD70ACe engine.  I told my girlfriend and friends but they are all like SO!  They say it looks like all of the other ones I own or they say trains are gay.  LOL  So anyway I have been paying $76 every week or so for the verland SD70ACe which will be mine in about 2-4 weeks because they have not been released yet.  I called Overland because they were due out in July but have been pushed back to September and he promised me that they will be out then.  So I now only owe 2 payments and then it is a matter of the release date.  Anyone else preorder one of these SD70Ace units?  I really like the Rio Grande the best and then the CNW after that.  I wanted to wait for Tower 55 but we all know when they will release those (Spring 08' as of now)  PLUS I am not fond of the cost compared to brass or plastic.  They are way too high for a plastic price and compared to brass you will only get two for the price of one brass.  The suggested retail price will be higher than the GEVOS because as BRIAN said the tooling cost was a factor in the delay of these but the cost went up.  I bet we will see a retail price of at least $350-375 which is alot.  The brass one is alot but I had the option to pay a little at a time until it is released.  I started paying in June.  If I had to pay up front $764 then I would not be getting one.  Well in a matter of weeks it will be here and I am excited

Sounds like you're getting yourself a nice model!Big Smile [:D] Sometimes, I wish I could afford brass because it always seems to look so good (I can afford the Alco Models stuff from the 70s).

Will you be posting pictures for us when you get it?Big Smile [:D]

Nice job! All these new models from manufacturers like Atlas, P2K, Tower 55, or Genesis are very impressive, but there's nothing like getting what you want using the old fashioned ways of scratchbuilding or kitbashing.Big Smile [:D] The closest I've gotten to that is building Bowser and Hobbytown kits, but I may try making something myself one day.
