I'm at the computer and felt I might as well get this thread underway...it's past noon out where a lot of you are, so it's official.

Selector, your shot is superb. Not only is the curve and locomotive magnificent, the roadway down the hillside helps create a true sense of distance. Bow [bow]

While it will be nothing compared to what Crandell has here, I've almost got Esleeck Manufacturing done, (just need to install the window glass). Pictures coming soon.

Great shot selector!

Love that big Pennsy Steamer!

 I have several myself.

Mostly BLI's. I have a J1, an M1a an M1b, and 2- T1  duplexes , all PRR engines.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind support.  I can't seem to get enough of Pennsy steam!

Perry, I don't think there is anyone who posts here who can do "sun" as well as you.  I sure like your rugged scenery.  The diesel isn't half bad either. Cool [8D]

And I like Perry's stairway.  (You could keep it cleaner if you didn't let horses on it, though...)

Here's a small shelter I scratch-built last week for the trolley stop on Saint Anne Street.  The figures are Woodland Scenics.

Crandell's right, Jon.  That's a low blow - even if you do exquisite work. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Crandell, I forgot to mention that I also like your latest perspective picture of your layout. Thumbs Up [tup]  Very, very, nice!  I don't know why.  I'm just a sucker for coal trains.

It's just wrong for a BL2 to look that good.  Goes against nature or something

Nowt wrong with BL2s, but they do look much better without all the grabirons in the way.

I like them because they resemble some of our early British diesels.

Hi Tom,

I do all my own work from benchwork to scenery with the exception of trees, which come from three suppliers including ===>  Canyon Creek Scenics . This is my 3rd layout in 16 years.

Oh Boy! The Weekend!

This week I got the final shape of the hillside done and plaster cloth in.  I got some dirt painted on the plaster and dug the hole for the house foundation.

Almost overnight, the grass started growing.  It must have been that rain we had earlier in the week!

Later today some trees and shrubs grew in the fertile dirt.....

Then.... Suddenly.... Without warning.... As if by magic, a house appeared!

Still a lot of detailing to be done, but it is getting there.  Here is an overview of the area as it looks now:

So?  What comes next?  I'm not telling!  But, here is a sneak preview of the next phase of the  building of Hopewell Junction:

Nice work everyone, BTW!

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO

We'll get there sooner or later!

I've just got some structure pics this week.

This is my first attempt at scratch building something. Just some left over junk I had laying around.

These next few are some buildings from my dads layout that I've been cleaning up and re-painting. (Dad was kind of sloppy about building kits) I had to completely redo most of them.

Being able to take pictures now, I notice a lot more mistakes in the photos than I do when I'm actually working on the stuff.

I really like the way you've captured the train from engine to caboose in this shot plus the way you cropped it.

Lot's of neat stuff, everybody!

Jon Grant's Bl-2 is great.  Looks very much like Monon BL2 at Kentucky Railway museum. That unit is alive and well, and sometimes pulls excursion trains there.

You can see a photo of the BL-2 at kyrail.org.

A note from Big Bird where everything is yellow Thanks to a reader who emailed me about my yellowish pictures. I found a better brightness setting in my camera, it's called extra room lighting. After a squirting yellow paint all over the scene Monday, things are better. (See post on going into the train room PO'ed). Here's last weeks work finalized.
