Nice work!  I really like the loading dock. Well the Rock Creek sub has been shut down for a couple for new track! Expecting larger and heaver locomotives the radius have to be enlarged. I went out to take he last photos of the old curve. Unfortunately there where no trains.

Here's the old curve. This was the first section to be replaced.

Old curve

Here is an aerial view of the new curve.

Here is an aerial view of the old curve. "Blasting" will have to be done on the pink cliff.

New Curve 2

The expecting time for the larger locomtoives (SD45) will be next week.

Lookin good WCfan.

I finally have something that I can contribute to WPF.....

My new windmill.

I know what your thinking Sign - Dots [#dots] 'That's just a stock Walthers windmill.' Almost. It started out as one, but I added one major change to it.

A MOTOR!

The motor came out of a cell phone (the one that makes your phone vibrate) It's a little large, but so small you don't really notice. The pump rod was replaced with a brass tube that was used as a conductor, and a wire was threaded thru the center of the rod for the second conductor.

I still need to add some X bracing on the tower and paint the whole thing, but you guys get the idea.

I also have to work on the power control for the motor. I need to steady source with a POT to control the voltage down to around 1/2 volt for a more realistic speed. The old power pack I tested it with worked OK... but couldn't hold voltage very well especially at 1/2 volt.

No layout pics, but can show some train pics I took last week....first is the speedo on the Mag Lev train that runs to the Shanghai Pudong airport...400kmh and smooth as silk.  Also a few pics of the tram that runs to the top of Victoria Peak in Hong Kong.  Cheers.

Hello All,

As usual, some great stuff here.

Got a lot done in the last 2 weeks. I stepped down the picture size a little bit to make it a little more dial-up freindly, we'll see how they look.

First off, I got my car card system going, and built some shelves for them.

While is was at it, I got my fascia signage done too.

I used basswood to construct the card shelves, and I got addicted. so I pressed on and tacked my overpass project. This overpass acts as veiw block for the stub-ended staging/interchange track. Since I model Southern California, no less than a 4-lane would do. Also makes a great place to display my scale cars.Wink [;)]

I also tackled my corner/viewblock hill, as this tied into the overpass project.

Here's how the basic scene is coming together.

And here's a follow-up to the aisle-side extension that I began a couple of weekends ago. Named for my son(you shoulda seen his eyes light up when I showed him that!) Threw some fugures and trucks into the mix.

And here is a SWEET palm tree I found and placed at my now-famous crossing scene. If that doesn't say Southern California, I don't know what would.

Ya'll keep up the good work and I'll be checkin' in.

Later

Speaking of RRCanuck, I have obtained his permission to divulge that it is he who has been kind enough to alter my best contributions to WPF.  Although he is busy, and out of the Country for an extended business arrangement, and MRR impoverished while away, he still offers to have a go at adding a decent sky to my photos and eliminating much of the benchwork that shows.  So, Friend, thank-you for doing all the fine work for me.  Here is an interesting rendition of yours of one of my recent contributions that you surprised me with a few weeks back.  I like it a lot.

Love the grass Jon

looks so real makes me want to fire up my weedeater

My new project is to finally fix the window frame problem

I had been hiding with a sheet

It hangs out over the layout and makes a skyboard difficult

My plan is to build out from the wall with foam then set a skyboard on the ledge even with the top of the mirror

Then do some vertical scenery something like this

Instead of using a POT, why not hardwire a normal resistor ( or series of resistors ) to hold the voltage down, or even take a trick from power packs, and use pulsed power?

You need to give the server here access to the data file 24/7, because this server does not store the images.  So, you need an account at a free site such as photobucket or railimages.com.  You must upload smaller files to those sites (at least you do at railimages), and then paste the URL for those images in your text box, such as this one.  When you place the URL here, hit "enter" and it should come up as the image when you post the message.

Like Selector said; you need a host for your pics. You should also consider making two of each; one small and one full size, to make it easy on those who are on dial-up connection. Link to the small pic here, and make the full size pic available for those who want to see it.

Not much going on here this weekend as I am at a convention in Orlando.  I was able to add a little more to my structure interior module.

I may have had this on before, but this is how I treated a window. I felt I nneded some light so I wewnt to HD and got  a vinyl static cling sheet for sky. Then I painted a backdrop on foamcore to fit inside the sill.

I recently redid the yard on my Fresno District SP N scale layout. I needed the track below mainline level, but not too low, 1/8" masonite brought it up. I needed to fill in with earth make the yard look used and with various levels of topography. I don't like using Sculptamold for this, especially in N scale. So mother nature to the rescue with real Central Valley of California dirt. Strained and baked, it's great and no 3.89 price tag. I build up the level and finished with real ballast. Here's various shots of the project. I used dry Tempra paints to dust the ballast and dirt. I used Rail Brown on a small brush to add detail to the rails. The rails were pre-sprayed with just black, rust and gray primer. A light grey dry brushed to the ties makes them jump out.

Hi All,

Got my new CLP class locomotive this week! They are an EMD locomotive produced here in Australia, when I visited my brother and sister-in-law in Adelaide a few years ago the "Indian Pacific" was pulled by these locomotives so I have a bit of a soft spot for them. The models are made by Austrains, a company in Australian but they are made in China of course. OZ Jim might appreciate these.

Also added some clouds to the backdrop! Ran out of paint so I willl continue over the next couple of weeks!

Regards,

Nigel

What a clever way to deal with a window !

We all have our problems Windows,Pipes,Doors and Posts

How we deal with them can be an interesting part of the hobby

Here's my contribution for the week.

These are three shots of my layout so far. I've been working on planting grass and balesting track.

Chuck that yard looks impressive.

Here is an N Gauge Structure (Green Max 38) I have been working on for too long. Its not finished but getting there. Not sure if its going to be part of a planned NTrak module or my unfinished layout ;)

Sorry for the photo diarrhea.

Morning all, As usual some very good pics. Great video Sue, I just love the sounds of a steam loco.

Here are some older pics of the spider invasion.  He was back the other night, I was running the trains and happened to look down at the floor and here he came walking in the door like he was ready for another ride.

Some of you veterns here might remember these,  as for the newer modelers you might like to see them.

   Enjoy,        Mike
