Bachman H16-44

These inexpensive models can be bashed into true lookers and great runners. The Phase III Fairbanks-Morse railroad locomotives models need only a polishing of the gears to run with Atlas. These units are so very inexpensive that it's practicable to buy three to get two great runners.

The shell is perfect for most of the variants. The drive can be taken apart and little casting ridges cleaned up and with a drop of oil on each motor bearing these can run just great. DCC can go on with the existing PC board; there is nothing you cannot do with these locomotive models, except maybe on-board sound.

I plan to use a part from an Atlas H24-66 to fix the only obvious fault of the Bachman model, that being the screened housing of the radiator fans.

Maybe even better C-line trucks from the Canadian manufacturer.

My sister-in-law bought me the Velvet Underground boxed set, so I must listen.

Sister Ray says to keep cutting on them Bachman H16-44's.
