After posting my track plan last weekend and reading all the replies and suggestions,a couple of questions came to mind.
Iused xtrakcad to design it and was wondering if I should stick withsectional track when construction starts or would I be better off usingflex track?
All the switches in the plan are #4's. Would I gain anything if I were to use Peco short turnouts?
I know they are a little costly but if I could gain some spaced the extra cost may be worth it.
As always all ideas are welcome. Bob
Thanks for the reply. I agree with your suggestions. To be honest I was leaning towards flex track but wan't sure if I would run into any problems when it came time to do some cutting and getting everything to line up,but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Again thanks. Bob
You could do it with a hybridized version...mix and match, Bob. Personally, I will never revert to sectional if I can help it, but if it is desirable for you, rely on the CAD plan and build what you want, but keep a couple of sections of flex as closers. Often folks find that things don't go according to plan, so you will welcome a small section of flex that allows you to make ends meet.
It isn't either/or...it can be both. For me, just flex. So much more variation allowed if you want to deviate because of a later brilliant idea.
