Where to buy PK rolling stock wheels in bulk?
Posted by cudaken on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 8:11 PM

Is there site or away to buy PK 2000's wheels in bulk? I have been paying PK 2000's wheels at the LHS, 3 sets cost $6.95 so I guess that is not to bad. But I need around 60 sets to up grade all the junk I have so that is a little stiff. Hum, $139.00.

Does PK make a back of say around 10 sets like Kadee does for it couplers?

I have had darn good luck with Atlas metal axles and plactic wheels and at $3.00 for 3 sets cannot complain but the PK's dont go out of gauge.

Check with the LHS or other sources if you can get a discount on a box or case of them.
a box has six cards, and a case has four boxes. a case will do 72 cars, a few more then you need right now, but it's not like they will spoil or anything.

Check with Al at Eastern Classic.  He has a website at ECMR1@aol.com.  You may have to call, don't know if he listed the wheels on his site.  I bought the set of 100 33" wheels and 50 of the 36" wheels.  Saves me the 37 mile trip, one way, to the LHS.  That's Al's e-mail, I've got the url at home for his web site, he does have an e-bay store that you can get the address from Google.

Intermountain makes bulk packs.  They have them at www.discounttrainsonline.com for $61.75 for 100 pieces.

I get all mine from MB Klein http://www.modeltrainstuff.com He used to have the best price around, far less than anyone else, at least before Walthers bought Life-Like. Dunno what they are like now. I've ordered both off their web site and picked some up directly from their tables at the Timonium show.

As someone said previously, you can't buy them in bulk.  The best price is $5.49/pack at MB Klein which comes out to $0.48 per axle.  I have contacted various manufacturers to see if they would sell large quantities (>200 axles) direct.  Some would, some wouldn't but no one beats the Proto 2k per axle price.  MB Klein is currently having a sail on P2k trucks at $2.99/pair.  Great price if you need to replace old Tyco, Bachmann, etc trucks.

Go with Intermountain, their wheels are the best--Just my opinion.
