"Coming Next Month" in MR - I suspect it's Robert Smaus' Los Angeles Layout

In the June 2006 MR that just arrived yesterday, in the "Coming next month" blip on page 89, it shows the cover story will be on an SP layout set in the 50's.

Looking at the trackplan on Bob Smaus' website, the shot sure looks like the train is going over Piru Creek on his layout.

Here's the track plan from his layout...

I feel like a kid before Christmas!

I missed his layout the last time it was in MR - I may have to order the back issue.

Bob's layout article was in the RMC, march 1999 issue. He does LA as it was in the 50's. Great layout!

The Bob Smaus structure article in the June issue has a bit of a blurb that says his full layout will be featured in July.

There's also a note on the bottom of the table of contents page to confirm this.

Although I don't model the railroad, time era nor geographic area that Smaus does, I have to say that I look forward to seeing his work in the various magazines. The guy's one talented modeler!
