I am C&O all the way. I have one B&O with C&O paint scheme just for fun. I have mostly pre 1955 but do have some GP 30,35, 38,40 & SD40. Just for a modern run sometimes.

Am I wrong, but are the major hobby suppliers ignoring the C & O. If my history is correct the rail line was a major player in the 60"s. I mean after all, they did purchase the B & O. Which if you love to model the B & O, there is no problem to purchase loco's and rolling stock. I have since started to model the "Chessie System", where I can run WM, B & O, and the C & O. Even decals for the line are hard to come by. Coal was king to the C & O, but try to find a large selection of hoppers. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places. I was just wondering if someone else, who loves the C & O, can vent with me. Thanks

You aren't lookin, Life like makes a nice P2K GP7 & 9, GP30. Atlas makes a RS1 a GP38-2 and a U boat in there somewhere. C&O steam is also very common. The reason any of this to find is because it usually gets bought up VERY fast. There is tons of rolling stock as well.

Yes the last few years they have become available. I think the manufacturers have realized that there is a market for the RR thay nobody recognized as a major player for some reason. In the area where I live when people found out what I model they acted as though it was a fictitional RR or something. Now it is recognized as an actual rr.

<I do like Penn Central a lot. More stuff needs to be made for them.>

Hang in there-Manufacturers grappling with the complexity of their road scheme. Just about get the black right and then there's problems with the white not being quite right. Get that nailed down and someone researching the road comes up with PC even used red. OK, we got the colors right,"What size should the "PC" logo be"?

Tom,Not really..There was a C&O before the Chessie System..[:D]
That is the topic road-not the Chessie(C&O).Now including the C&O under the Chessie you will find more models lettered Chessie (B&O) then Chessie(C&O).[V]

I have a C&O Alleghney 2-6-6-6 K-Line/Lionel with all the bells and whistles .... railsounds trainmaster all digital that I would'nt give up for love or money . Yep ... it's O scale and is she fabulous ! C&O cars are rare to come by but am picking up a very few once in awhile . Problem is the cost is way beyond the other lines !   I'm starting to think I may have to buy other lines and repaint and remark them . Had it side by side with the MTH version and there's no comparison .... the K-Line is the best by far ! And why does'nt any manufacturer make a steel water tank or kit . All I can find is wooden ones and the steel revolution was going on in the late 20's - 30's ! If anyone knows of one except that lionel bubbler which does'nt look detailed at all please let me know . May have to scratch build one ... yikes .  Sigh [sigh]

I know you are looking for C&O specific, not Chessie per se.  But here is a link to a company that does special runs, mainly Accurail cars, they have Chessie (C&O, B&O, and CSXT) covered hoppers on the site right now.  I have some of the previous stuff and they do a great job.

You gotta be kidding, suppliers ignoring the C&O? What about B&O, WM, Chessie, Seaboard, ACL, CSX etc??? When I think of C&O, I lump the other roads with them.

I'll tell you the roads I wi***he suppliers would ignor:
NYC
PRR (except for the K4)
New Haven
Southern
Union Pacific
Milwaukee Road
Santa Fe
Southern Pacific
NP
BNSF
Conrail

I do like Penn Central a lot. More stuff needs to be made for them.
Why woud you ignore Southern?????? There one of themore classy railroads that existed. I'm glad they make alot of Southern stuff.
