I don't understand why we haven't heard anything about HO scale steam, lately? Was the Climax a disaster? Has Bachmann conceded the HO steam market to Broadway Ltd.? I sure would have liked to see Bachmann start releasing new steam with LEDs installed... even the amber ones, if not golden whites![?]

Go to the Bachmann web site, find the photo gallery and you will see shots of their new USRA light 2-10-2 in HO scale

They are not really quiet if you consider all scales.On30 has had a resurgence (the new climax was a big hit) and thier G scale items have also been a great ongoing treasure maker.
They have done several steam offerings in N scale the last couple years and then there is the new 2-10-2 in HO.

Besides, are you complaining about broadway limited???
If thier HO is anything like the On30 C-16 I own its the best bang for the buck on the planet!! [bow]

From what I've seen, the Bachmann group seem to be releasing a lot of new items - the Liliput range has made a big appearance over here (you can buy it in several online stores here now - that wasn't the case previously), their Chinese range is expanding, and their British diesels and steamers are expanding too. I'll be interested to see the new "9F" 2-10-0 that's supposed to be on the way (Evening Star, the last steamer to be built for BR, is a 9F).

A new Bachmann On30 railtruck is expected this month, and they have an outside frame 2-8-0 (?) coming shortly in the same scale.

Waiting for my railtruck which is on order from Micro Mark - pre order price of $79.50!

When I turn on my Zephyr I know it's on because the Bachman's come to life. They both have SoundTrax. My MDC's all have non-sound Digitrax.

So on my layout, Bachmans are the only ones talking.

Yeah, like E-Z Command! Now there's a product that really rocked the model train world - can you say "back to the future"? [;)]

Why don't they put stuff like this on the front page? And where is the textual description of what they're trying to accomplish? Is there anything really new about this engine? They act as if they're embarrassed!

If you go back and re-read my message, I think you will find that I was asking about HO projects. I do realize that they're involved in other scales. And no, I'm not complaining about BLI - I was wondering if Bachmann had conceded HO scale steam to BLI - but perhaps that's insider information I shouldn't expect to get here. [?]

Perhaps when they have something new in the distribution system they may have some publicity to drive sales, instead of some of the long awaited "vapor ware" from the industry. Can anyone say "Tsunami" and where is the ongiong dinn about MTH's revolutionary Pennsy K4.

Well, as has been stated here, they do have a light mountain in the works, but what I want to know is what does this light mountain offer that the last light mountain did not? I saw the pix on their website, but they say nothing about the loco! [:(]

Bachmann Seems to be doing a fair amount of development work at this time. From what I have observed I think They are trying to fill the void that Athearn Left when Horizon bought them out. They have Freight cars in $5-10 range, Locomotives in the $20.00-$30.00 range. And a sizable number of their locomotives available DCC equiped in the the $30.00-$40.00 range. However how bachmann has done this has been to revamp older tooling instead of doing the latest and Greatest. Currently GP30 35 &40 and FT and F-9s have been proudced in the range stated. However These are all tooling that Bachmann has uses since the late 1970s.

Walthers did not buy Bachmann out; they bought Life-Like.

Two totally different firms.
