Yes indeed there are alot of us. I was doing alright and then just stopped in for a cup of coffee on my way out. Now I go to work each day to log on and catch up. we try to give what we can and get in return the help and advice of people we have come to think of as friends virtual or not. It is good to find people who share our interests especially when our regular families/friends/coworkers/whatever look at us as if we're slightly askew. (we are all slightly askew - especially them) Even when we all lose our minds and make 200 postings on the proper way to solder two wires together, i still find myself compelled to read all 200 posts because i know i'll learn something. I never engaged in this kind of thing before (BobDylan quote from Highway 41 revisited i think) but i feel much better for finding this forum and the people on it. Thanks Mouse and the rest of you lot - even those i disagree with. J.R.

Who among us would line up to get a cure for trains.com-aholism (if one were available) ?

I strongly suspect that none of us would.

WAIT !!! I've rethought that... Perhaps some of us would get in line — not to take the cure; but to destroy it ! [swg]

A cure for trains.com-aholism ?!?! What blasphemy !!! [:O] [:O] [:O] Who suggested such an abomination ??? Off with his head, I say !!! [}:)]

What we really need is some way to quickly and efficiently transmit this "disease" to the millions of people still living in the Dark Ages. [:-,] They must be made to see the light, and know it is good. [bow] [angel] [bow]

[#oops] Did I just say that out loud ? [:I]

Let me be the first to say that I USED to be a Trains.comaholic, but have successfully kicked the habit. I now spend most of my time working on my layout, and only occasionally visit the forums. It has taken over a year to get to that point, but I am ready to move on. I will probably always visit, but I no longer feel the need to spend almost every waking hour here.

As with every aspect of my life, I do it until it isn't fun any more. When there is no challenge, the party is over. Fortunately, I have designed a layout that will challenge me for years to come.

...and a fine layout design it is. I've been missing your good posts and wondering where you ventured to. Hope you will keep us updated with some photos of your progress.

Hi, I'm 4884bigboy, and sadly, I'm not as big of a trains.comaholic as I used to be. The topics have gotten less and less interesting.

Hi, I'm Tom and I'm a modeltrainsaholic, realpassengertrainsaholic and trains.comaholic! There, I've admitted it to one and all!

Racking up posts in order to get another Star isn't what keeps me interested in the Kalmbach Forums - it's the exchanges of information on the subjects of interest to me that does it. My idea of engaging others on these threads is to inject a bit of humor - add some insight - ask responsible questions and show some respect for the other guy's [2c] worth. Doesn't always happen that way - but I try!

See ya fellow 'aholics [swg]
Happy Railroading! Siberianmo

You guys are really sad. It starts small, you know, reading MR and the Walthers catalog. Next it's weekly trips to the LHS. As total control rears it's ugly head, the addict turns to constant Trains.com usage and ebay auctions. Of course, there's total denial by this point. As I said, you guys are sad, really sad. Of course, I have no problems in this area at all...

Once again SpaceMouse has come up with a most entertaining thread. Boy, I just read three pages of fluff about some disease on this forum that is supposed to be about trains and I didn't learn anything!!
Wait...I just read three pages of......I can't believe it! I read three pages and didn't learn a new technique for creating a spruce tree, or how to keep my scratch built shacks square? Didn't learn the latest weathering tips from Aggro? Didn't miss one of Joe's videos??...and I STILL read three pages??!?! I must be sick....Quick!! Someone get me my September MR and I'll be ok.......

Two years ago when I got back into model railroading after a 12 year vacation from it, it was fun, but I'm burned out on it again, and just stop by once in a while to say hello and pass a little time. However, I'm very grateful for trains.com and it's members for if nothing else, the fellowship we all share in a common interest.

Here's to members like SpaceMouse (Chip).
