Zip-Zaps,Remote control miniture cars in HO Scale from Radio Shack?

Saw these at my local radio shack yesterday, They look close to HO, Which means that you could drive around a remote control car on roadways in HO Scale. Many HO roads are corkbed and a surface would have tobe custom.
The next think here might be working timed traffic lights. It would be great to get a bunch of these and drive them up into a Autorack train. Matter of fact I remember seeing a layout were a guy put slotcars driven up into a autorack train

They are cool the only problem is they are 2 speeds...really fast and stopped. I am sure they could be modified though.

I have the Trucks roadway system, slotcars with trucks and you had loads and dumping, I had an idea for them to run trailers up onto flatcars.

naw, getting too toylike. I am into railroading, not trucking.
There is a roadway system that uses a magnetic wire in the road to steer the battery powered cars.

Battery powered steerable cars is an idea I would work out to make a trolleybus system..
But if I were to have a trollybus system, then really, I would put in a streetcar instead.

I wonder if the drive and radio receiver (the guts of these toy cars) could be kitbashed into a R/C diesel, or at least a doodlebug or galloping goose?

I'm expecting battery technology to evolve to the point where a re-chargeable battery, the size of a scale-model diesel fuel tank, could power a loco for a few hours. [Decoders would need to be made R/C compatible of course.] Then worrying about having perfectly-clean track will become a thing of the past...

We could do that today, if we still power the track and have a small recharger circuit built-in. Reverse loops? Just don't power them. Track gets dirty? Not a problem. The battery will run the loco but where it DOES get track contact it will recharge the battery
If I ever put some G scale up outdoors, I think this is the approach I would take. R/C operatio, but the track would still have power to extend the run time of the batteries.

This would mean that it would not take a eletrical genuis to run a model railroad.
I quit my club because they had too many dead spots and no one knew who was around to fix them

I've got a zip-zaps car, the only problem with it is that the antennae is way out of scale. However, since it is a piece of wire, it can be tucked inside the vehicle. This shortens the range of how far away you can be, but it works. The slot cars idea is great.

They are bigger than HO for sure
AS a joke we snuck one onto a friend's layout in his intermodal facility and had a trailer mounted on the auto. When we knew he was looking in the area somebody made the trailer move - a bit too fast and jerky but it was good for a laugh.
