Here is a picture that I think is his best shot. This looks mad good. This one did not make the MR and it should have.

Biggie you're right. That pic should have made the MR pages. Are we really sure it's on a model layout, and not real?

I know what you mean LIL Rob. That looks so damn real there. I would have to be really honest and admit that the picture I see there is truly one of the best looking jobs I have ever seen in any magazine. I swear by that so far. The realism in that picture is absolutely perfect.

I'm with you guys. When I looked at the magazine, I was thinking that I was surprised there weren't any pictures with dirt roads in them, since he made so much effort on the roads on his layout. Many of the minor roads around the California desert are dirt. When I saw the photo you guys mentioned, I thought "Yeah, that's what I was expecting." Like you guys, I am surprised it was not in the magazine!

[#ditto] [#ditto] and [#ditto]

WOW, only one way to say it ...... WOW!

Realism at it's best!

Would this be the virtual reality of layouts?

Thanks for the URL link.

Hi Guys,
The photo you refer to was not included in my Daneville story. It is taken on another part of my layout which is still under construction. I took the photo for the MR photo contest but it did not win any prizes.
Next week a couple of new photos will be added to my website.

For those like me and several above who were bummed that the photo above didn't make it into the "Big Diesels in the Desert" article, you'll be happy to see it (full page shot) in the April MR, along with Pelle explaining how he creates his scenery.

NICE!!!

Still suffering my sunburn from reading his article last month.

The guy is good ladies & gentlemen.

It's a shame that most of you have not seen his earlier layout of Caliente, California. Pelle's skill as an illusionist in model railroad building is amazing. It's not what you see but what you invision which makes all his photographic images so outstanding. For those of us who know him well we still marvel at how easy it is for him to create such realistic scenes. Pelle will be creating a So Calif cement plant in the near future to be added to his current layout. Let's hope that MR does us all a favor and highlights it in a future issue.

I have the MR article from his earlier layout. I only save my absolute favorite articles from MR, and that was certainly one of them.

I got all excited when he had that track laying article nearly a year ago, because I was hoping we were in store for an article on his new layout. Sure enough!

No joke - I'm 95% sure I ate at the McDonalds shown in his earlier Caliente layout - the article said it was based on one in Mojave. Being a Californian, I've stopped in Mojave en route on vacations, trips, etc. over the years. I'm just familiar with it enough to know that Pelle is nailing it on the head.

If anyone wants to see unpublished photos of Pelle's Daneville layout send me a note at my email and I will send a few to you....I have closeups of all the buildings and photos of the entire layout including the location of the proposed cement plant.
