Many years back we had a large tank of goldfish.
One of the cats we had would nudge the tank lid off then proceed to plodge up and back the tank. He never attacked the fish, but I don't think they were amused.

To the world you are someone. To someone you are the world
I cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought
NorthBrit Dawn has just sent this to me --- At birth we board the train and meet our parents , and we believe they will always travel by our side . As time goes by , other people will board the train , and they will be significant , i.e. our siblings , friends , children , and even the love of your life . However , at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone . Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum . Some , however , will go so unnoticed that we don't realise they've vacated their seats . The train ride will be full of joy , sorrow , fantasy , expectations , hellos , goodbyes and farewells . Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves . The mystery to everyone is , We do not know at which station we , ourselves will step down . So we must live in the best way , love. forgive and offer the best of who we are . It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life . I wish you all a joyful journey .. mail by David Harrison, on Flickr David

Good morning, everyone. It's a beautiful day out -- it's raining! In farm country, the sound of rain on the house is great.
If you ever take a trip to Alaska or the Yukon, be sure to ride the White Pass and Yukon RR. We boarded the train at Skagway, Alaska, and took the train into Canada, where we got off the train and drove north to Dawson City, Yukon. The scenery is great. Don't miss Dawson City -- it's an amazing place.

Good afternoon Diners. A large coffee please, Chloe.

Good morning, diners. Just black coffee, Flo. I'll have donuts later.
It's a busy Sunday today. I probably won't have much time for the layout.
Talk to everyone later.
Sounder train with Mt. Rainier in Washington:
Good Afternoon,'t
Sure is quiet in here lately.
Sun is shining and most of the snow has melted. Tomorrow I plan on pumping out the pond as it is full from melted snow. It is a bit of a process as it has to be cleaned of debris before I can install the pump and fill. That won't happen until next week as expecting cold, wet weather later this week.
I have been looking at cars on line lately but not to replace mine. There is a really nice '49 Meteor for sale in Quebec. A Meteor is a Canadian Ford with a different grill and quite rare. I remember riding in my uncle's '49 when I was very young.

Sounds like the weather have here in the Finger Lakes. One of the old sayings we have here is, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute, It'll change!"

The temperature dropped precipitously around here. 68° earlier and 48° presently. Possible snow/rain mix on tuesday. I took the snow blower off the Deere. Still have the front-end loader ready if needed
Cheers, Ed

Yes, it was a lucky guess. Probably begins with "D". But I might have to think about it.
If Groucho had used that as a secret word he would never have had to give away the $100.

Chloe, I'll take two eggs over easy, with two bacon strips and a Molson Golden before hitting the rack eh? Thank you.

richhotrainTry today's Wordle, Ed. You may not be so lucky.
I managed on the fifth try. I don't do them that often, maybe twice a week. Still, it can be fun! My first two rows today were all (gray) duds!

Good morning
Dont seem to get Wordie up here, the site didn't function.
Went directly from Winter to Summer for the better part of last week and they worked me silly Now it's Winter again
Some country road scenery
They even stop traffic for this thing
Good to see ya, and have a great day gentleman.
PS What's with this 403 thing so much lately? Is this part of the newer ever-changing format here?
Good morning, everyone. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee, please.
Wordle! I thought I would lose my streak today, but I got it on six.
Track fiddlerPS What's with this 403 thing so much lately? Is this part of the newer ever-changing format here?
I haven't had a 403 in a long time. Not sure why some get it and some don't. I think the last time I got it on the forum was about two months ago. Now that I've said it, I will probably get it when I try to post this comment.
Have a great Monday, everyone.

Let's hope not. Me neither, didn't have any trouble with it for months, then trying to post a couple different evenings last week, there were those wretched 403's again! Seen David was having troubles with it as well. Frustrating, but what are you going to do though? ...

Good Afternoon,
I haven't had a 403 notice for a very long time on the forum.
Well I won't be pumping out the pond this week. I checked it and there is still a large lump of ice on the bottom and we are to get cold, wet weather for several days starting Wed. Oh well maybe I should start painting the detail parts on the Mo Skeeters bait shop. There are a lot of them.
Just heard the water bomber go over. Can't mistake the sound of 2 large radial engines. It is an old one but still in use. They get it out for test runs in the spring before it goes off to its base in Gimli.
We have a large flock of Juncos in our yard, at least 50. A few fox sparrows too. They sure can eat a lot of seed. We spread some on our patio.
Good evening Diners. Hopefully this gets through after the plague of 403s.

Evening
Hi Charlie. That's a job pumping the pond out in the Spring. The one we had at our house in Prior Lake wasn't very big. Always enjoyed the sound of the waterfalls and the changing light colors from the screened porch at night.
The rotten leaves, worms, and what not decaying all Winter stunk to high heaven, but always put that nasty water to good use.
The pump used had just enough pressure, and I'm sure the neighbors didn't really appreciate the stench for a few days after it was sprayed all over the lawn. Don't know if they ever figured it out, why my lawn was so much greener, healthy, and weed free in the early Spring. That water was about the best natural fertilizer there ever was...Yuk
On the bird front. The neighbors on the third floor have a feeder and that's enough to attract the birds to enjoy, so we don't mind sweeping up the mess down below here.
We have several paired hen & drake mallards that come round every year, and they have become quite tame. We've gotten to know the different ones by their markings and personalities. One hen sits next to me by my chair, tucks her head under her wing and naps, but the drake Isn't so trusting.
It was quite sad, that one drake was missing his foot this year. The severed injury looked fresh. After a few of her tears, Judy said we should call the DNR and they will come help him. It was Sunday night we noticed, so that wouldn't have happened anyway. It's a catch 22, as we wouldn't want to see him split up from his mate.
Some clean water here
This is a little off topic but personally I found it very interesting.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Good morning, diners. Bacon, eggs, and black coffee please, Brunhilda.
The layout continues to progress slowly. Today I should be able to install some street lights in the intermodal yard. The concrete surface needs another coat of paint. While I'm working, I get distracted by some murder mystery program on TV, and the railroad work stops for a while. That's one issue caused by a TV in the layout room.
I'm tempted to do what my neighbor has done. Last fall, he sprayed his entire lawn and killed everything. Then, after the freezing weather started, he planted grass seed which stayed dormant all winter. Now, with warmer temps, he has an entire new lawn sprouting. In a couple of weeks, it will look great. I have such junk grass I guess it's something I could consider. Or ... I could just forget it and not worry that my lawn is one or the worst in the neighborhood.
Not much else to report from flyover country. We went straight from furnace running to air conditioner running. No spring weather with open windows.
Train near Sedona, Arizona:
Greetings from the Northen Command
we made it back from the house and the Blues fest with no more tire issues.
We had good weather and a good time.
Currently working on the bathroom tile. I had some tile fall of the wall, some spot of the 1950 tile glue let go, I am sure some tiem in its life the grout allowed water to get behind. So I had to re do the backer board in that area, which was a concrete like sustance over lath.
I don't count George Thorogood as the blues...
we went from heat to A/C, to heat to a/c to heat in the morning A/c in the afternoon.
We are supposed to get another cold shot this week end,
April showers and cool. An interesting Spring, as it went from the upper 80's to the 30's and 40's.
The duck came back but didn't have his mate with him. It was dusk on Sunday and his leg appeared to be a stump. In the better lighting, his foot looked to be bent up his leg. It looked like it healed that way.
Called the DNR, and they referred me to a wildlife rehabilitator. The lady was busy, and referred me to another rehabilitator that hasn't got back to me yet. They're volunteers.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone, Chloe, please keep this mug filled with hot black coffee.
I have been infrequent in the diner lately, sorry. My days have been spent sorting my deceased friend's collection of wargames and Lego Trains.
This has been very hard on me. Chris had very similar hobby interests and ambitions to mine, and all this stuff represents things he wanted to do that never got completed. It is all very sad.
I wish this was just a bunch of money and cold investments. Instead I remember all these things we were going to build together. There are unfinished platofrm terrain sets, collected pieces for games we never played. All kinds of projects for a "someday" that never came.
A lot of memories from 30 years of friendship have been resurrected.
I have never had a task drain me so emotionally.
gmpullmanLucky guess? Got the Wordle in three tries:
Was that when it was DWELT?
That took me six tries. I finally got the _ _ E L T on guess five! I did not even know dwelt was a word. I actually tried TZELT and YBELT before I attempted DWELT. Fortuanately my bad guesses were not actually obscure words.

Living the dream.
Good morning, everyone. It's a beautiful cloudy day here, which means we may get more rain.
Wordle!
I lost a fairly long streak yesterday.
On the fourth row, I had _ound.
I guessed sound and mound. Unfortunately, the word was hound.
