TF the pet duck thing can be problematic. The girlfriend of one of my mechanics had a pet goose. It had to wear diapers in the house and was itermittently viscious not to mention noisy and just generally out of control. When she would visit the shop the dogs that stay here would all go nuts so it was even worse. Like you said to Judy - good luck with thatSad  J.R.

I got top again! Order what you want and lets have some fun. I stiffed everyone yesteday and again the post didn't appear on top when I first posted. Strange. Me? I'll have the filet medium rare with baked potato, corn on the cob and a nice slice of blueberry pie ala mode. And some Pinot Noir to go with it. I'm takeing off work early just to celebrate!

Good morning.  Just finished bacon and eggs, so just coffee at the diner this morning.

The sun may shine a little today.  No more snow until middle of next week.

Ken, hope everything is going well with your leg.

Ulrich, how are the plans for the container house coming?

TF, I didn't know that McDonalds and casinos went together!  Looks like an interesting place.

BigDaddy
Laudanum, 10% opium, was a mainstay of 19th century medicine.

During a lecture on the Civil War, I heard of Laudanum -- the Civil War doctors used it extensively to stop the Tennessee Trots.  Of course, doctors didn't wash their hands or their instruments.  They did not yet know of microbes that caused infections.  The lecturer said that soldiers tried to avoid the hospitals.

I'm working on the layout, but I have the TV tuned to Vegas Vacation.  Chevy Chase just fell off Hoover Dam.

Well, back to work on the railroad.  Retirement is great.

I didn't either until I found it.  We went in there for a little while, it was kind of fun.

From what I understand they give a decent percentage of the proceeds to charity.  Micky D's always has been good to the childrenYes

It was truly amazing John,  you had to be there to see it for yourself.  The camera really did it no justice.

It was just one of those few experiences of being in the right place at the right time.  By the time I ran in the room to grab the camera and take pictures,  it went away just as fast as it appeared.

I'd say every visit to McDonalds is a gamble. Whistling

Our ducks come into the house only once. Usually surrounded by parsley and steamed vegetables Dinner

 Quacks by Edmund, on Flickr

This fall a weasel killed off all 12 of our remaining ducks. No more duckies.

I have heard more than once when they do an autopsy on someone who died of cardiovascular or heart problems.  The intern always asks  "what is that white goo?"  The head doctor replies McDonald's! Whistling

I was saddened to hear about the weasel and your ducksSad but maybe I can come over for duck dinner next yearDinnerSmile, Wink & Grin

Geese.  Yuck.

We have a flock of a couple of hundred of them wintering over.  They make a racket.  Back at the GF's condo, the geese stayed year-round and were a constant mess.

We also have ducks, but they're wild and not anywhere near as numerous.  They just float around in the tidal marsh, mostly.  We've identified a few different species.  The Hooded Mergansers are here for the winter.  They dive and swim underwater for fish.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

That reminds me of the line from "O Brother Where Art Thou" when they were eating gopher on a stick. "Gopher Everett?"

Delmar O'Donnell: Care for some gopher?

Ulysses Everett McGill: No thank you, Delmar. A third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without beddin' 'er back down.

Delmar O'Donnell: Oh, you can have the whole thing. Me and Pete already had one apiece. We ran across a whole... gopher village.

I doubt my weasel would feed many of us here. Maybe some Buffalo weasel wings?

     Bon appetit, Ed

MisterBeasley

Judy wanted nothing more than just a rest and relax day after returning home from vacation.  I thought you might get a kick out of the series she decided to watch.

She's on about her fourth one.  I had forgotten all about Uncle Bill, Buffy, Jody and Mr. FrenchLaugh

I'd have to agree about the geese.  Some tenants in the condominium complex I live in decided to start feeding them a few Springs ago.

What a brilliant ideaIndifferent  The lawn looks like a massive minefield of goose droppings every Sping since...... Yuck!

Ducks, geese?

Are we in for some fowl play?

Family Affair - who of our generation doesn´t remember that? It started in 1968 in Germany, where its title was "Dear Uncle Bill". Did you know that they all spoke German without an accent? Smile, Wink & Grin

Any idea where the Diner will be parked tomorrow?

Happy times!

We witnessed a bunch of ducks playing a game of chicken today at the office.

.

Six ducks were taking turns walking one step at a time closer to the baby alligator in the pond.

.

.

.

After a few minutes of this nonsense, the alligator submerged, and the ducks walked away.

 Eveing Diners

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer plese and Dirk half a dog treat.

 John thanks for asking!

VA Follow up call. Was called with the results of my blood test from yesterdy. No kidney or liver problem! My A1c is down to 5.8! Big Smile There is no reason at this point for a follow up visit!

Took Dirk for a longer walk tonight. Little over a quarter mile and I enjpyed my self.

Train Front Running my old BLI Blue Line CSX GE/AC 6000. Not a bad engine and pull's well. Only thing I hate is due to the downward facing speakers it sucks up track spikes. Speakers now sound, well not great. It is a good puller at 23 rolling stock.

See you in February, Ken and Dirk say's that was a good walk Daddy Woof, Woof.

That's good news Ken, especially after the scare you got about the possible blood clots. You are going in the right direction! Keep it up!

Dianne and I had a great day!

We went birding to look for snowy owls and actually found one, our first of the season! It was a nice big female not too far from the road, so we got a good view. By the way Ulrich, our birding is not seasonal. In fact we go out far more often in the winter than we do in the summer. Of course in the summer, the birds come to us, or rather, to our feeders, so we have only to step out onto the deck to see lots of the wee beasties.

We finished the day off by sitting by the outdoor fireplace for a couple of hours, and then we barbequed supper. We had filet mignon with roasted baby potatoes and peppers. It was excellent!! The temperature was just below freezing and we put the wind screen on the deck down to stop the slight breeze. We listened to Jim Croce and Billie Eilish. She is an amazing talent, and far better than any of the newer artists that have become popular in the past few years IMHO.

I hope everyone has had as great a day as we have!

I should have mentioned that another great part of my day was receiving my three True Line Trains Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo slab side hoppers. They are really excellent models!!!

OK never mind.  It looks closed down.

I'll wait and see where it ends up.
