Why start with Ebay when the Walthers catalog is online and can be searched?  Here is the link for searching "Figures" / "HO" / "Engineer."  and I suspect other search terms such as "crew" or "fireman" could find more.  And there are lines of figures that Walthers does not carry.

https://www.walthers.com/search/category/products/layout/figures/scale/ho-scale/show/20?match=AND&q=engineer%0D%0A

Just remember this with seated figures.  Imagine beginning to slowly sit down in a chair and stopping just at the moment the seat of the chair touches your, well, hinder.  That it what putting a cast figure on a model seat or chair is like.  Not realistic.  Then imagine continuing to sit down until you are entirely seated.  Obviously quite a bit of "you" has been compressed, several inches worth.  That is how much of the typical cast figure's -- well let's say "fundament" -- needs to be filed away to be a realistic looking seated figure.

I like the Broadway Limited figures, but it is a little odd that some of them have left the face and arms as unpainted white plastic. Perhaps it's so you can add the shade of your choice? Anyway, they're scale sized so look better than the old metal figures I used to use which were a bit big.

I bought these before....highly detailed...:

Preiser has all sorts of train crewmen....painted and non-painted.

If You sand/file down their backside and buttocks area You can get a figure to fit most anywhere.....do it all the time in vehicles...without cutting off their arms and legs....Just like Dave Nelson tried to explain.

In the next pic' there's a heavy duty Blonde driving the Mack truck...LOL

You can click on photo for a larger view.

Dave's right, and for that reason, there's no need to restrict your locomotive cabs to allow only seated operators....

...the figure, second from left, in the foreground, is one of the LaBelle crew figures.  To allow him to lean out the cab window of a steam locomotive required that either the floor of the cab be altered or the lower body of the crewman "adjusted".   I've never understood the squeamishness some modellers seem to have about doing amputations on plastic figures.

I've just finished taking over 100 photos of crews in cabs, and once I sort through them and put some of the useable ones into photobucket, I'll add them here.

I did learn that close-up photos show much more than needs to be seen, so don't worry too much about paint jobs, missing bums and legs, or if the figures are somewhat out-of-scale...on the layout, those anomalies aren't readily visible.

EDIT:

Some fresh photos, showing that some crew members...

...are pretty-much whole...

...while others....

...not so much...

Some figures, like a fireman, are often standing part of the time to do their job...

...but that doesn't necessarily mean that they need complete legs on which to stand...

A couple more...
