Heljan customer service???
Posted by emdwilly on Friday, March 24, 2017 8:26 PM

can anyone tell me how to contact Heljan A/S? I just bought one of their #804 turntables from a second hand store and it is missing parts. I need to contact them to see about buying replacement parts, but can't find out how (I don't read Dutch so I haven't a clue).

thanks!

Their webpage http://www.heljan.dk/shop/frontpage.html shows an e-mail address of heljan@heljan.dk.   Perhaps you could try e-mailing and see if they speak english....

Heljan is a Danish firm so even if your Dutch was impeccable it likely would not help much.

I wouldn't hold out much hope about the spare parts; I have never known them to sell them and I know Walthers has no spare parts for what they sell that Heljan makes for them, even for warranty repairs.  Your best bet might be to keep looking for another used one/basket case and hope that between the two you have all the parts needed for one.

I agree with tommymr try emailing them. Many other countries speak english and if not with electronics these days they have "translate" features.

While here I would like to take a minute and invite you to 'Jeffries diner" thread. All are welcome and we have a group of friends there that talk about trains and everyday life stuff.

The Danish have been seafarers and traders (and invaders) for centuries, so you can be assured the understand English and will answer you.

Heljan does a lot of business with the UK both in OO gauge and O gauge.

Actually that is a none issue..I had a problem with one of their  N Scale buildings-the wall was horribly warp..I sent them a e-mail in english and had a reply the next day telling me the new wall was on its way.

And if you had the same problem with Walthers for a newly purchased kit they'd send you a new wall, too -- by opening up a package of a complete kit on their shelf, or using a sacrificial lamb kit for warranty parts.

Our OP bought his used.  It would be great if Heljan could help him out but I suspect they feel more obligated to an original purchaser who received defective goods than to someone who bought an "as is" used item.  But there is always hope.

Edit

You underestimate foreign education.   Victor Borge was Dutch opps! Danish.   He spoke better English than most Marylanders.  Here most would say the Danes don't speak no English.  But they do.

I have a friend from Switzerland and she speaks Thai and 4 other languages.  Me, I can sorta of ask my way to the bathroom in Spanish.

Henry,

Victor Borge was Danish. I had a co-worker many years ago who was Danish and he spoke excellent English that he learned at school.
