Stupid question. How do you pronounce Kato? Long "a" or short "a". I've heard both.
Pat Bandy
A as in bravo is how I have head people from KATO pronounce it in KATO videos.

What Ken said. When I visited a hobby shop in Japan I asked if they had kay-tow trains and was quickly corrected that it was Kato as in bravo or Kah-toh.

Just be glad you don't have to press "2" for English.

Too bad they don't know how the english language works!
Then again, due to the fact that we Canadians (at least, the older ones anyhow) use British pronunciations and spellings, those of you in the USA might say the same thing about us!
Have a colourful day eh! If you are feeling really generous, send me a cheque will ya!
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Those who speak Nihon-go know there is one, and only one, right answer. Just follow the rules for printed Spanish.
Separate sounds, slight emphasis on Ka. Our Spanish speaking friends call a cat gato. Harden the G to K and you've nailed it.

"Too bad they don't know how the english language works".
It ain't English,it's Japanese and there is no A sound in their language.
Besides how can you expect the Japanese to know how English works when the English can't even get it right.
Why should they? After all, Kato is a Japanese company.
Do you know how to pronounce 加藤?
Sir MadogDo you know how to pronounce 加藤?

Guys, I hope you know I was kidding. I fully understand that it is a Japanese pronunciation. I was poking more fun at myself than anyone else because I have pronounced it incorrectly for years.
Dave,
I have known the correct way to say KahToe for years and I still catch myself saying KayToe.
I guess there are some things you just can't teach an old Catt.
