My name is Pat Bandy. I started in this hobby when I was 16 and had a fully sceniced and operating RR by 17. At 19, my life moved on and model railroading was put in storage. I attempted another layout in my 20's but women proved to be a much more fulfilling and more expensive hobby.
Now, at 53, I am retiring after 33 years with UPS. My body gave out before I was ready to retire so now I am disabled but ready to return to the hobby I love so much. Railroading, not women.
I will have an empty house soon with my daughter leaving for school in Italy in the fall of 2016. I built a 2 x 10 switching layout to test out all my old equipment and everything is looking and working great. After a lot of enjoyable work.
I am making plans for a "full sized" layout so I can have some mainline running but my focus is on switching and switching puzzles. Some days I just want to enjoy watching my trains trundle down the mainline. Something I can't do currently.
I am a truly blessed man. My daughter having survived leukemia and I having survived a life threatening infection and the following heart attack. I just love this hobby!
