Hello all,

Many of the wineries in California survived by making communion wine during that time for the Catholic church.

Also, a doctor could prescribe alcohol for "medicinal" purposes.

Hope this helps.

Hello all,

Yes indeed they do!

I've visited many wineries in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York state.

It's on the same latitude of northern France and southern Germany; the Alsace region.

Primarily white wines from similar appellations at similar latitudes.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Steve, I thought footnoting it would be acceptable for educational purposes.  It won't happen again.

Wait a minute... New York has Wine Country? I thought only cirtain climates can grow grapes? Like Northern California, France, etc.

There are wineries in every state in the U.S.
