Bachmann will announce a new N scale PRR K4 4-6-2 Pacific with DCC and sound this coming weekend. They are shipping now!
I saw this the other day. I haven't see. Anything on any of my usual dealer's web sites. When this thing does hit the shelves, one sound you'll here is the sound of thousands of old Minitrix K4s being packed away forever.

Yep! I haven't seen anything yet, give it a month, and these will be flying off the shelves.
Sweet! Some Kato PRR passenger cars and this new K4 would make a beautiful sight..

You got that right!
I'm not into N scale, but have a few friends who are. I looked at Bachmann's site and saw and heard their video of the K4s. I thought somebody had stepped on the cat's tail when I heard that K4s whistle! I suspect somebody at Bachmann wanted to replicate the famous PRR Banshee whistle. But they forgot that Banshees were used on freight engines, and not all freight engines at that. K4s engines had a much more melodic whistle, closer to that used on the Berkshire in the same video. Wonder how hard it will be to change it.

They were announced on this month issue of MR.
You can't go wrong with the post war version.

Just getting back into the hobby; I'm surprised to see such N-scale steam offerings, and from the likes of Bachmann no less!
Oddly, it looks like all of their HO versions of the K-4s are discontinued now? Really would like to pick up one postwar with DCC and sound - can't find one anywhere!
