Whilst parusing the HO auctions friday a week ago, something in one of those "lot" deals caught my eye. (I got a few pictures to work)
In the above picture, the first thing my eye caught was this little jewell that I am well familiar with: It is a Namiki (Japan) coreless motor with an 80/1 planetary gearhead, all steel gears and case. I've used these before (note my avitar 1/25 operating crane) I kicked myself for not getting more when they were available at All electronics. There were 3 in this lot. Super smooth, quiet and powerful. Upon closer inspection, WHOAH!! A bunch of Minimotor gearheads! I know those guys too. They have 7 pole coreless can motors, seven of them have 900/1 gearheads, one has 485/1, those all have 15x24 coreless motors. Three have 12x19 coreless, unknown ratio, in a 4/1 bevel gear mechanism; 2 have 16x24 coreless, 22/1 ratio on a odd mechanism. Upon receiving the package, there were 2 Faulhaber (Germany) 23x42 twin shaft coreless cans, With a gear on one end. 18 coreless can motors, most with gearheads. I figured out how to separate the Minimotor ones from their gearheads, to use in locomotives. I hate to do that, but I got this whole set for less than they want for a single Sagami can motor these days! (OK, add shipping, still well less that 2 sagamis.) What I paid, I would have done so for just those 3 Namikis. Plus there was a set of Gn3 powered (spud type) locomotive trucks, but they're geared for speed. (Twin helix worm drives, ugh) I guess we wouldn't want our industrial swithcers to be outrun by a slotcar. Still have possibilities. Three packs of Kadee #5, a set of 5 Model Master paint jars, 2 large powerful 5 pole motors, a nice assortment of 2-56 and 1-72 brass screws, An 0-4-0 cheapo switcher, (runs awful after clean and lube), an AHM Berkshire frame... plus some other odd items. Oh, I can try to tell my non RR buddies about ths, but they don't relate... So I wanted to tell somebody who can, so that's you guys. There were about a half dozen assorted Model Railroader magazines, including one from the 70s that was Linn Westcott's last mag that he edited. Now that gentleman made some huge contributions through Model Railroader Magazine and their associated publications that are still important to the hobby. What a collector item, at least to me. I think this is my best haul ever! All sorted out: Thanks for looking. Dan.
