Good morning forumers!
Since nobody else has started, I will show you some cars I completed this last week!
Athearn 2970CF ACF Covered Hopper, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Branchline Models 50' RBL, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and Boxcar Red, lettered with Champ Decals. Although the cars belonged to FGE, they had PRR reporting marks due to Union Rules regarding car repairs. Intermountain Railway Cylindrical Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick J

Rule 1: This is my railroad.
Rule 2: I make the rules.
Rule 3: Illuminating discussion of prototype history, equipment and operating practices is always welcome, but in the event of visitor-perceived anacronisms, detail descrepancies or operating errors, consult RULE 1!
Rick, those cars look awesome! I've been busy this past week.

These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
We seem to have 2 WPFs this week, this one has the most views & posts so far so here I go...
It has been a couple of months since I posted an update on my rebuild on the Greenvale area. I have added some more scenery to the Dragon Products plant area, I still need to make some more trees
There was a big hole in the hardshell next to Dragon which I have filled with Phils Power Equipment, a welding and engine repair shop. The shell of teh building, roads, and rail spur are complete. I will be adding details to the building , an outside working area and a fence.
Recently, I have shown some houses I have restored for Greenvale Village. This is part of the village I am working on. Still need to add trees and other scenery. The 2-room shcool house and the gray ranch style house are from my first or secone layout I did in the early 1960s. There will be a brook to the right of the school, a fenced playground and children playing.
I also made my first main line run between Greenvale Village and Sheepscott since I started this rebuild project about a year ago. I found a couple of clearance problems, otherwise OK.
George In Midcoast Maine, 'bout halfway up the Rockland branch
G PaineWe seem to have 2 WPFs this week
George,
I noticed this one posted about 5 minutes after mine, then it got a comment. I was going to delete my WPF start and repost it as a comment in this one, since there were no comments to it yet, but saw no way to do so. Then mine got a comment...so looks like we get 2-for-1 WPF this week.
Anyway, if you want to see the other WPF, it's at: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/228442.aspx

Yeah Mike, after I had posted mine after seeing your posting which was not there when I started my post. I then tried to delete mine and attach to yours but this new CRAPPY FORUM SOFTWARE will not let you delete a topic like the old one did!
Rick,
That's OK. We've just got lots of elbow room and free electrons this weekend. Not a problem.

I don't think it hurts to have 2 Weekend Photo Funs if we try to keep both at the top.
There are some great photos this week.

WPF, 2X the interest and inspiration this week!
thanks to all, regards, Peter
It's been a busy weekend for me so far. My first step was to go to the hobby shop and get some track for my new layout. I probably bought 50% of their available Atlas Code 100 track.
After I got all of the rail joiners added to the track (ugh) it was time to test the track plan.
Once I had gotten all the track laid it was finally time to run some trains!
Within the next couple of weeks I'll be adding some of the Woodland Scenics track bed and gluing everything down in preperation for the scenery.
Long live the J!
Ah..... The weekend! I just got through checking out both threads... Nice! very nice works as always folks!
Last night I took a few photos of the progress on the Blacksmith's shop project. The Blacksmith's Shop itself is done (FINALLY!) with the addition of the JNO. Fisher sign over the doorway. Actually, I would love to fine an HO horsehoe to hang over the door as found in many photos of the building. No luck with that.
I have started the scenery and the King Post bridge in earnest. Need to have the whole thing done by .... Ah.... Last September. Hmmmmm.

Ray Seneca Lake, Ontario, and Western R.R. (S.L.O.&W.) in HO
We'll get there sooner or later!
Here are a couple of projects finished last week.
A Greyhound bus station is significant in my life as I met my wife on a chartered bus trip to the rose bowl. What a trip...and our team won, too!
This warehouse/factory (yet to be determined) started life as a Walthers modular kit. At only 2" in depts, it will be a backdrop building.
Great stuff folks.
With the weekend nearly over, let's get these two WPF's closer together.
Have fun,
Richard

Ray,
That's come out fantastic!
A suggestion for the horseshoe. Find some very thin solder, shape it, then press it flat. I have some .015" diameter solder I got from Radio Shack that would work well for this, so that's one source.
Rick:
Did you add something to the Scalecoat II MW Gray? It appears lighter than my results with the same paint.
The cars all look realy nice, good work.

Joe,
I did not add anything other than thinner to the paint, it has always seemed light to me, I used to use Flquil Primer for my Covered Hoppers until I finally ran out of it and then swithed to Scalecoat II MofW Gray and it is much lighter than the Floquil I used to use.
Rick ... I like the freight cars especually the GN covered hopper
DJ ... Nice photo with SD45.
GP9 ... Nice N scale Pennsy steam
Jimmy .... I like the crane
George .... Great industrial railroading
Karl ... Love the Barldwin
MIke (Ausie) .... Great winter scene. The slope of the embankment is perfect.
Peter .... I like the way uou placed weeds in the tracks.
BMR777 ..... No wonder I can't find Atlas track!
Ray .... The bridge is looking good so far.
Roger... I like the Bus Depot, and that is a good story about it.
Nothing working tonight, so forget it. Just when I thought I had everything figured out. Photobucket working like crap, as always, and this site isn't acting much better. I'll try some other time. Nice pictures guys, and BMR77, love the "J", building a couple of locos for the "J" is on my list.
Mike.
My You Tube
Mike ... Don't you just love technology? ... LOL ... The recent thread "editing photo descriptions" might help you. It's now on page two. ... I'm still having trouble with the format of any text posted below a photo even though I followed advice there.
Gary, I thought I had it all figured out, as I was part of that thread, last night nothing seemed to work. I swear Photobucket does strange things to my computer. It has way to many programs working all at once, which, sometimes, seems to bring my computer to a stop! I like the other forums better, you can do pics right from your files, and not a photo hosting site.
So, that said, I'll try again!
Fresh from the paint shop, GLC's latest addition, a Atlas / Roco GP40, a former RF&P, leaves the siding:
I have to thank Karl and a couple guys from DD site on a good source for easy ditch lights. Mike. EDIT: And, like last night, this site and photobucket seem to have a mind of their own.

Mike... You're a genious! I have some fine solder from Radidio Snack myself. Guess what I made tonight?
Thanks!

Goodnight all.

fec153 RAY- Turn the shoe up. All the GOOD is running out. Beautiful work. Goodnight all. Flip
Thanks Flip, but the shoe on the building is down like I have it.... Several people have told me when I showed them the photo I took of the building it was wrong. Actually after looking up the concept of luck and horseshoes, the shoe is correct on the building as the owner wanted to pour good luck onto those who entered his shop. The more good luck you wish on others, the more you have yourself......
In the background is the photo I took of the front door of the shop. Notice the horseshoe.
I'm gonna go with the prototype as far as which way to point the horeshoe.
The idea about teh solder was helped along by my Australian buddy, Laurie McLean. We're on a list of narrowgaugers together and he was talking about making tiny tools out of solder a couple days back. I figured if you can make tools, you can probably make a horseshoe.
Glad to be of even a minor bit of assistance to such a grand project.
