Bowser kits?
Posted by Jimmy_Braum on Thursday, November 28, 2013 12:24 PM

Is it just me, or does it seem like Bowser is offering less PRR kits than before? I mean I tried to find a caboose, Hopper cars not in the black,etc...but I cannot find them as kits.  I personally like building the Bowser cars, and would rather not have to buy the RTR stuff..nothing against the RTR, but I like assembling the kits.  Plus the kits can sometimes cost less.

It isn't just you.  I just visited the Bowser website with a focus on HO scale freight cars and it would appear that the majority of their cars are marked "sold out."  And not just the PRR road names either.

My hunch is that they do production runs from time to time and then sell them off.  Looks to me like it is time for them to ramp up and do more production.

I personally hope they keep doing the kits. Nothing against those who like the RTR, but since I don't have the space to set up a layout, the kits for buildings and kits for cars keep me in the hobby when I can't work on the club layout I do.

There may be a glut of certain kits on the market and the orders has temporary cease for replacement kits which means the production has cease till enough orders comes in to justify another production run of those kits.

Check out MB Klein at model train stuff http://www.modeltrainstuff.com

They have quite a few PRR caboose kits, I didn't check their hoppers.

Enjoy

Bowser just announced another variation of PRR caboose and open hopper. So, some should be coming.
