Hi there Fellow UP Modeler!!!

What you are attempting to do is going to be tricky!!! I have heard that there are way's(And products available) of removing factory printing and decals off of models, but so far I have not had the guts to try them. Basically I don't want to run the risk of damaging the paint work!!(Damaging a UP paint scheme would be UNTHINKABLE..Ha Ha!!).

Here is something I could suggest( Keeping in mind I have never done this as I model Union Pacific in 1996 and don't model their new FLAG SCHEME!). You could mask off the "UNION PACIFIC" and airbrush some matching 'Armour Yellow' over lettering to erase it( I would do very thin coat's each time and let each one dry throughly before I did the next). Then apply your decals in the usual way and fini***he job with a few good layers of GLOSS COAT. This should hide any irregularities in the paint work caused by the masking. Since the prototype you are modeling currently has a showroom shine...it will look great.

I would try my method out on a scrap piece of sheet plastic first, before I tried it on my model!!

I hope I have been of some help!!

terrythomson2001@yahoo.com.au
