At prices from $ 600 and up here in Germany, there are not many DCC starter sets to be found under the Christmas tree. DCC raises the bar for entry into the hobby to height where most people will not be able to join in. Most starter sets are therefore still DCand I believe it will be around much longer than we´d estimate. Btw, my new layout will be DC, as it basically a figure 8 with some sidings - no need for DCC.
