Hi Folks,
Going through my father's collection which he passed down to me and found a box of Dan Kilgore trucks. Are these still considered decent or should I continue to use metal wheel sets?
Cheers!

My recollection is that Kilgore acquired, and expanded, the original Lindberg line of HO scale trucks. When those trucks were new they were remarkable for their rolling qualities and still are. Lindberg was also among the first firms to embrace the then new NMRA RP25 wheel contour which is now pretty much standard except for those going even closer to exact or fine scale of course.
I think it was Kilgore who introduced an alternative: the same trucks in a reddish brown color. Whether he kept the wheels plastic or not I do not know but I assume he did.
My own preference is for metal wheels but I see no reason whatever not to use these trucks as is. They look good and should roll great.

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll keep them around for a future project.
