Since it seems I am the first to post.
Here are my recently completed cars!
This is a McKeen Models ACF Welded side Boxcar used to represent a GATC Boxcar. Substituted a 9' Youngstown Sliding door for the kit supplied 8' door to match the prototype. Also installed Details West extended coupler pockets, painted in Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Highball Graphics decals.
This is an Overland Models I-12 Brass Caboose. Painted with Scalecoat Caboose Red, then baked in the oven in order to have the paint adhere better to the model. Lettered with Champ Decals.
This is a Rail Shops (Ex Eel River) Flat Kit of a 62' RBL mostly used in Coors Beer Service. Model is painted with White and Boxcar Red and letted with Microscale decals.

About all I managed to have time to do this week is assemble a Steam Boiler for the Powerhouse on Bare Mountain. There will be 2 of these in the building to provide steam for the turbines and generators...
A bit closer up (so I can see where I screwed it up.... Next one I will do better).

It is not finished yet as there will be some weathering and rust added, lots of piping, and a ladder be able to get up to the valves up on top and for service.

I'm finally putting this project to rest - a quick and dirty DCC upgrade of an IHC 0-8-0. Factory paint and decals, just converted to DCC (sound) and some weathering added.
Before (new from the box).
now (just 3 short years later...)
It actually runs and sounds great in DCC, the problem and why I'm sidelining it, is that the IHC wheel flanges are problematic on my layout. I've tried grinding, but I think instead I'll use the lessons I've learned from this model, and start in earnest on a better base model (like the Proto 0-8-0)
I'm trying to model 1956, not live in it.
I love what you done with the loco Scarpia, even if the wheels are giving issues.
Ray: The power station looks to be a sizable one...did you do anything with the interior yet?

Garry - I Like this scene. Are the buildings in the background N scale to add a little 'forced prospective'?
Chuck ... Thanks for commenting. The buildings are under-sized and selected to force perspective. The houses are inexpensive ones from a "dollar store". The church is a Hallmark Christmas tree ornament. I added paint as needed and used flat matte spray to each building. Roads and covered bridge are undersized. Not seen are some N scale vehicles on the road that curves behind the trees.

Not much from me this week, as I was "tinkering" with weathering. I had overshot/applied too much weathering to my grain hoppers, so I removed some of it with a cotton ball dampened with rubbing alcohol. The dampened cotton ball slightly washed and faded the green body and white lettering; the brown dirt/weathering also remained in the grooves/skin seams and I think it looks better.
These rib side hoppers were airbrushed with a light coat of gray (toned down the black lettering) and then airbrushed once between the ribs with light brown.
Here's a new addition to the roster. Bought this blue box kit on that "auction/bidding" web site for less than $10. Installed kadee #5 couplers and intermountain 33" metal wheels. All other parts/details are stock. No intention of weathering (yet).

I like and am interested in your work, looks great so far! Kind of a sharp turn from the back wall thru the tunnel (kidding, you either have a turnout, dead end or crossing under there)

Have you looked at Northwest Shortline? They may have a driver set that you can drop in as a replacement. If you do not see what you need, use their Contact us page and explain your problem

Well for the first time I kit bashed a car, but I think more bashing happened then anything... so its a little ruff. This is my take on a modern power car. Had this silver, WAY to old and globed no matter what. So I am still working on this few more detail and bits I am going to put on after I get better paint and fix the poor spots this week.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know of them, but I haven't seriously looked for this model - the truth is I have to question if this is the right model to start sinking cash into. It needs a lot of of modifications to look like a real CV 0-8-0, so I'm still thinking it would be better to start with a better base model for my purposes.
However, if you're running higher iron than the code 70 and 55 I have on my layout, I wouldn't over look these models as a great, inexpensive DC or DCC workhorse (it runs much better in DCC, thanks to being able to tweak the motor settings).
SP4440; this is an interesting car indeed , But com-rad is that a Soviet star with hammer & sickle in the upper left hand corner ? now that is interesting ,as I sit here trying to figure out what it is attached to,lets see a canteen full a vodka? ,a microfilm case?,a missile key case? (I'm joking here) but what is it ? ...Jerry
