G Paine Set the background to the gray or brown color as in the prototype photo, set the color of the lettering to white (which is actually no ink) and print on white photo paper. For a decal, do the same, and apply on a white surface or use white decal paper.

I've done this many times and even did this for the test sign, sans decal paper. Unfortunately it just never looks as good as white ink.

Slowly working on my railroad. Took a few shots today.
Downgrade near siding.
Going into the cut.
Coming out of the cut.
Looking at the hill / cut from top of grade.
The siding will have a wooden retaining wall along most of the length, at end of track and about 4 " on the other side. Have to build that before I finish ballasting that section.
