Heartland Division CB&Q

Jeff ... Looks like your railroad is getting into the passenger business in a big way. Nice photos.

Only temporarily. I'm moving out whatever I don't need as fast as I can.

Wolfgang, that turned out to be a nice little building.  You do good work, that's for sure!

Good stuff folks!  Today was the culmination of 'backdrop fun' on the evolving C&O Hawks Nest Branch.  The first portion of the backdrop was installed about 2 weeks ago (about 22 feet long).  Today it was painted (I use a base sky color called First Light by Olympic) and while this was drying prepared the small portion of photo backdrop I'm using - its about 2 feet long - because of space constraints.  Using a Larc Products CD picked what I wanted, printed on cardstock, trimmed, and glued in place.  While I have a bit of work to soften the transition to the sky, all in all it worked out well. See photos below.

thanks!

Charles

I was working on this old Athearn SD45 this morning. I ditched the old black ring motor and replaced it with a newer Athearn motor bought within the last five years. I also replaced the sintered wheels with new nickel silver wheels. It still looks fairly good despite it's age and lack of hand rails.

Jeffrey,i had bunches of that SD45 years ago and it does need handrails because it is a great loco.

Your weathered box cars are great.

ollevon,

Really like the looks of your tug. What did you use as reference for the details. I have one of the Harbor Tugs and want to detail the deck but can't find any pictures other than profile. Very, very few looking down.

The tug is pretty much the way it came in the kit.

Yes, and it runs very good right out of the box.

I have still to weather it.

In Process photos of the engine terminal and yard at Deer Creek.  Tore the old one out as the WS roadbed was too 'spongy' for some of my heavier articulateds.  This new one is directly on the foam benchwork.

New engine terminal:

New yard---more staging area, larger capacity:

Hopefully it'll be all done before I go back to teaching in 2 weeks.

Thanks Garry,

I made that scene about 10 yrs ago it was part of my first layout. That layout is long gone now, but I'm working on my new layout, which I started last Oct. 2010. no where near ready to post pic's of it yet.

DJ- do you ever open your layout up to the public?  It looks amazing, and really gives you a feel for this area.

Thanks, Odie. I've never opened it to the public, but members of various forums I've met have visited it. DJ.
