Some discussion  in this thread from a few years back - basic answer is for thin, large sheets try 'For Rent'/' Yard Sale'/tetc signs from Big Box retailers, otherwise for really large pieces try Plastic distributors...

I ordered a couple of big sheets from www.usplastic.com.  They're the Rubbermaid people.

AS mentioned the "for sale",  "for rent", etc. signs are cheap sources..especially if picked up at the Dollar Store and NOT the big box or warehouse stores {where they can charge you far more than a buck a sign}.

Spray one side dark to prevent the lettering from "shining through" if you light up a structure!

I purchased 4x8' sheets in .060 thickness, white for $21.65....Allied Plastics in Dallas, Tx. Had them cut it to size(24" width) and roll for easy transporting...using for Backdrop mount surface.

I go to my local sign shop.  For small pieces (often up to a foot or more in length) he has a scrap box that I can pick over, no charge.  If I want larger pieces he will sell it to me as long as he has the thickness I want.  If I wanted a full sheet he will put it in with his order and I'd pay only pay for the piece(s) I get.

Good luck,

Richard

Check the yellowpages under plastic and you may have a fabricator near you.  I picked up a 4X8 sheet of both .020 and .060 for 28 dollars.  Still have most of it still after 2 years.

Another vote for the for sale/for rent/no hunting/garage sale signs. One warning-some types of the lettering may need to be scratched off down to bare plastic to get a really good cement bond. I use MEK and am used to the cement grabbing almost instantly. Sometimes it doesn't when the lettering is in the way.

There are various thicknesses of the signs so be sure to check all of them.
