Bill, Any chance it could have been the July 1956 Model Railroader? M.B. Wakefield has an article in that issue about a two-story grocery with an adjacent one-story post office. The post office is on the right when looking at the structure from the street side. Wakefield was pretty prolific. Last citation I found for him when searching the online magazine index was in 1976 in the NMRA bulletin, so it's also possible a photo of the grocery ran somewhere in the 1960s, or someone else may have built his grocery and put the post office on the left side. This article is on pages 24-29, and includes detailed plans for scratch building, several pictures, and even an interior plan for the front of the post office. You can order a photo copy of the article from our customer service department, at CustomerService@kalmbach.com. If that's not it, try searching the online index.
