R110,

You've been a member here for ONE WHOLE WEEK. Sorry dude, but I don't think that puts you in a position to say what is acceptable here and what isn't.

I also thought it was prohibited. Someone posted a few weeks ago asking if was ok to post items for sale and was told she couldn't.

I saw the earlier "for sale" post today which implied the poster had somehow gotten a special indugence from the administrator to sell his stuff here.

I've seen it done a few times, but it is not supposed to be done here in the forums. Most of the time someone will mention something to the poster, as was done here, and that will end it.

The forums are for discussion and conversation. The classifieds and eBay are for selling. I'm only guessing that Bergie would respond similarly on this issue. Most people just do it because they haven't been told they shouldn't.

New members shouldn't take it badly when asked not to list sale items here. It is just one of those unwritten rules. If everyone did it, the forums would be a mess.
