Looking For Information

I am very new to the model train hobby and am looking for more information on the subject. I would like to know if there are any websites with information that will help me get started. I don't know much about this hobby but would like to get started. If anyone would be kind enough to share some information with me I would greatly appreciate it!

You are on the right track by looking in this web site and others previously mentioned. Do not forget the magazines. Check with your local hobby stores to see if there are any clubs. They may have a reference library. Also some of the old hands may be willing to help you get started.

One of the best aspects of model railroading is the willing ness to share information. I had modeled other objects but became frustrated, as few people were willing to share techniques. It was as if, “I know how and I will not tell you my secret.”

others have mentioned some exellent web sites. Let me add, to check out some of the exellent model railroading books from Kalmbach, either onlin at WWW.KALMBACKBOOKS.COM, or at a hobby shop, which can also be a good source of information.

Randy; I'm new to the hobby also, about a year and 1/2. Two things that I would suggest. First, read Model Railroader. They have lots of information and websites. Second, Join NMRA! I did about a month ago and I'm amazed at the information they send you. Best money that I've spent

Another excellent web site is www.the-gauge.com
It has a forum with a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people, and also has a section called the Academy, which has posting of helpful articles.
