Hello I am still working on radiator shop. I did not like the card stock roof that came with the kit. So I made my own. I got some scale lumber and this is what I have so far.
I made one side so it can be removed to see in. Have a great weekend Frank

On a foggy morning in the southern Appalachian mountains, Central of Georgia's #108 leads a freight up a grade past an old home place. The Alco RS-3 engine is an Atlas product, smooth running as a fine watch.

This week has been an interesting week atleast modeling wise for me, I finaly set up my blasting booth that uses baking soda right off the shelf from wal-mart and let me say it takes paint off kato and old rivarossi shells like nothing plus! it doesnt damage the plastic.
This is one of 5 "BN" sd70mac's I am painting. i'll let you guess what road this is going to be....
I don't often participate in this thread, but I'm finally getting some scenery down on my second "chainsaw" layout.

I'm trying to model 1956, not live in it.
Jarrell and Scarpia...very nice imagery and modelling... I also like the images by 0-6-0 (nice model!!) and C&O fan. Driline and Jeff, nice photos. I like the bridge shot with the diesel working its way across it.
Robby, you have a nice layout, and I enjoyed the video. Nice collection of weathered cars you have. Ford86, it looks like a first class paint job you have underway.

Well, I've got a packed weekend, so probably won't get too much done in the way of model railroading, but I did get this car finished earlier in the week and didn't get it into WPF last week. Went for a lighter weathering on this, to have some variety. The pictures actually make it seem dustier than it is in real life; must be the light (which I know the lighting/camera work is pretty bad, lol).

I have been assembling some Tichy Train group flat cars as I have had time during the last couple of weeks. The kits are highly detailed and definitely Craftsman level. They look like this out of the box:
Nice kits! The parts are free of a lot of flash and the parts fit. Excellent directions as well.
The first two have been painted and the wood decking weathered to actually (hopefully) look like wood..... When this photo was taken, only one was done the one on the right has only had a coat of "earth color" over the black base.

The Challenger is the Lionel HO version, and I purchased it in late 2005. I had it put away for about a year after running it sporadically for nearly two. It runs well, looks very good, although the MSRP suggests to me that it could be a bit more detailed here and there. Nice heavy puller, and it has a good paint job.
Great stuff this week. And it is all so colorful...

Again, this week my contribution is only semi-MRR related.I took this shot for the Trains Magazine photo contest, "Bridging the Gap." However, I will also use this (along with other shots) as a refrence when it is time to built the platform on my new layout (which I still haven't started):"Arrival on Track 1"This is my second favorite shot (of the 4 that I entered), not far behind my favorite. Next week, I will post my final, and favorite, shot (which will hopefully pay off in the form of a new camera and a trip, and/or a very nice HO commuter station!!)

It was mine. Its not finished yet. The main plant is there along with a truck warehouse. I just have a whole bunch of detailing to do, So I'm going to wait showing any pictures until its further along.

The new Main Street crossing. This is a 1.6 second exposure, so I built in a switch into the crossing signal circuit that holds one light steady to avoid having both lights lit up in a daylight shot!
Ford86 - those SD70s give the impression they could be Frisco fantasy scheme units.

I have been continuing work on the flat cars yesterday and today. Some decal s were added to the cars (still waiting for the standard freight cars decals to arrive to be able to put loaded weight, blt. date, etc. on them.
In other news, the old hand laid code 70 track on the logging pike on the layout is being ripped up. It was put down about 24 years ago and time and temp./humidity/ changes have taken their toll. There are several out of guage spots that I am not going to be able to fix. Also the curve on the inside track is way too severe. I do have 2 scratch built stub end turnouts that I will try to preserve and reuse as they are a start on the Civil Engineering AP Certificate.

Here are the three cars I picked up today. All of them were made by Bachmann and all three are getting metal wheels.
Not much going on this weekend, kind of dead, in fact Grave! It is a little spooky to see so little posted by Saturday, kind of bare bones so to speak.
Finlay felt like working on the bench and 3 weeks of dental problems, did not know what pain was till a week ago!
Added some trees to the mill spur. Have a few steam engines waiting on the spur.

Mine spur is finally tracking well. Y6 b is dragging some coal from the mine.
Started making custom coal loads, must say I like the way they look. Y6 dragging some.
Y6-b is a PCM, one of the best engine ever made. It will creep at speed step 1, sound is great and will drag what ever I lash to it! It has dragged 80 cars up a 1.5 grade, that is pulling power! Going by the mill.

Picked up a Stewart F9 A and B, B is a dummy. Good looking engine for the cost. With a DH 163 decoder it pulls well, about 20 cars. Hope LHS has another set Sunday, want to power the B unit.
