Figured I would keep the Jersey theme alive here, a few shots form the Bayhead yard. End of the NJ Transit commuter line

Just my 2 cents worth, I spent the rest on trains. If you choked a Smurf what color would he turn?

I have been installing my two Hulett unloaders and Walther's ore boat as part of the Ashland Iron & Steel complex, on my layout.this week Click on photo to enlarge it. Then, clickon photo series the view parts of the rest of my layout. Note the slag being poured into the slag pit, on the right of the photo. Bob Hahn This photo shows how the "molten slag" (balloon or craft paper) is made into a weighted ribbon, that when painted with fluorescent paint will glow when illuminated with black light. I used a plastic half shell from "Silly Putty" as the semi-solidified slag, that must be "bumped" out of the modified Slag car. The 5 inch black light tube & flashlight can be purchased from Pro Audio Video.com for $17.04 (including S&H)

I'm in the middle of my first big project for this season but here are a couple pictures of a smaller project that I started last season and just completed:

Judging by the full parking lot, it must be Tuesday and liver and onions is the blue plate special at the Rusty Spike Diner. Even the local Barney has stopped in on his lunch break.

Here are some work-in-progress pictures from my first big project of the new season, scenicking the end curve at the start of my branch line:

The TT is the kit version of Walthers 90' TT. I've heard the horror stories about getting it to operate correctly. I haven't yet installed the motor so I don't know how well it will work. Worst case scenario, I'll operate it as an armstrong (i.e. fingerstrong) TT and turn it manually. I'll keep the option of replacing it with the built-up version. I'm guessing that since they are both 90', they will fit in the same hole.

Just taking some photos on the layout today.

First, the old 0-6-0 collecting dust as it rusts away beside the engine house.

Second, 6319 is in for some light maintenance.

Third, an old Pacer that has seen much better days but will probably never see the highway again.

The Hagerstown Shops completed its first painting project for a revenue customer.  This started out as a Kato Santa Fe SD40 in the familiar blue and yellow warbonnet scheme...

Added some of the major body details, such as the sun shades, plows and MU cables.  I'm really happy with how this turned out.  Next up, a second SD40 in the Red, White and Black scheme, which will take the life of a Conrail SD40, unless someone can swap me an undecorated shell first....

Now I feel like I should go back and re-do my pair.

I also shucked the first oysters of the season...  Fresh from the Choptank River!   Mmmm.

Oh, and the first vestiges of the layout expansion arrived several days ago from Fresno... 75' of cork roadbed.  Huzzah!

For any of you Oyster Lovers in the Toronto area, Big Daddy's Crab Shack Restaurant located at the S/W corner of Lakeshore Rd. and Southdown Rd. in the Clarkson area just to the west of Toronto have "Buck-A-Shuck" oysters on all day on Mondays. The regular price is in the $30 to $35 a dozen range. The special is also on at other times during the week. Big Daddy's is a chain, so there may be other locations that have the same specials.  These were $5 a dozen.  Fresh from the river bed behind me.  They still had mud on them!  I ordered them while I was waiting for my crabs to get steamed... I borrowed the glove and knife from the guy behind the counter.  We came in by boat, so I could even BYOB...

Down the hatch!

Could it be the flared radiators?

Allegheny, I really like that second shot! That must be from around 2007 with those Pigs and Cats lined up in Bay Head, no?

Are there oysters in that river? Now let the debate begin: Who's got the best Toronto, the Choptank River or Chincoteague Virginia.  Boy are we waaaaay off topic or what?!  Seriously though; GREAT PHOTOS ALL!

Never had oysters. What happens if you chew them instead of swallowing whole?
