(ILLINOIS) GALESBURG RAILROAD DAYS THIS WEEKEND!

"Harry Grossman, the director of the 15th annual show at Carl Sandburg College, says that he has sold all the 300+ vendor tables for this year’s show. There are several new vendors, including new merchants from California and Texas. There are also 14 confirmed exhibitors with displays of every size and type from around the U.S. This is truly an attraction for both collectors and the entire family! Beat the heat and cool off inside the air-conditioned facility. There is a free shuttle offering round-trip service from the BNSF Amtrak Depot to both the Model Train & Railroadiana and Toy Shows at Carl Sandburg College; departing every half hour from each location. The last pick up at 5 pm Saturday and 3 pm Sunday. Don’t miss the largest summer show of its kind in the Midwest!"

I'm going.....are you?

The show takes place in a community college. So there are about 50 rooms with different vendors, plus they have a gym where the layouts and other vendors gather. Along with that they include a Toy show which is located in their cafeteria and beyond. I'm travelling about 45 miles myself. You can also see BNSF engines and tour them downtown Galesburg near the BNSF yard and Amtrak station. Lots of stuff to do.....

I'm glad to hear that, last year I thought that vendor attendance was down somewhat.  I noted that for the first time in my memory they had no exhibitors at all set up in the school library.  I was afraid that the recession might cut into attendance this year as well.

I make it an annual pilgrimage, as it's about the best trainshow in our local area.

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!

Kalmbach will have a tent near the depot so perhaps we will have a chance to meet fellow forum members.  Am I the only one with a Trains.com Forum Member T-shirt from a few years back?

Don't forget on Saturday, the Carl Sandburg (amtrak) is slated to have private cars both directions, so that will be around 10:20 am at the platform and again in the early evening (still plenty of light for photography).
