Big train shows in the west?
Posted by NevinW on Thursday, March 6, 2008 11:10 AM

When I lived in Morgantown, the yearly expedition along with my model railroad club to Timmonium for the Great Scale Train Show was something that I always anticipated.  It was always a fun trip and we usually brought back all sorts of goodies.

Now that I have moved to Reno, Nevada I want to know if there are any comparable train shows on the west coast that are worth driving to?  When are they usually held?  Thanks,  Nevin

And here...

Don't expect any of these shows to approach the size of Timmonium, though, simply because the population density of model railroaders is not as great in the west as it is back east.

The show in Tucson, Arizona, has been cancelled for the past two years because they can't get enough vendors signed up.

These used to be called the Great American Train Show.
