? for MR Article: LL Belvedere Hotel Kit
Posted by Mat_11 on Saturday, November 10, 2007 7:15 AM

Hi,

some years ago there was an article in "Model Railroader" of the conversion of some LL Belvedere Hotel kits into a trackside industry building. Unfortunately I lost the notice stating the MR issue and was unable to locate the article in the magazine index.

Is there someone out there to give me some information this?

Thanks,

Matt

Perhaps you are thinking of the June 1997 isue of Model Railroader. It has an article by master kitbasher Art Curren describing how he built several industrial/warehouse buildings for the Kalmbach club layout. One of them was built using some Life-Like "Belevdere Hotel" and "Mt. Vernon Manufacturing Co." kits.

There is another article in his Kitbash book that uses the Belevdere Hotel... I think it used three of them.

do you think adding 3 of these will make a realistic sky scraper?

I have only one now

Both the Belvedere Hotel and Mt Vernon Mfg were kits that Art Curren used often.

The Belvedere Hotel was used in his Vera Manufacturing and his Flatt Iron Co.  Both are in Curren's wonderful book "Kitbashing HO Model Railroad Structures."

The Flatt Iron article is in December 1982 MR.  The Vera Mfg was part of the Gold Hill Central series (that might be why you could not find it in the index).   April 1984 MR.

Hope this helps

Dave Nelson.
