Thanks for all the decoder help
Posted by rrebell on Friday, February 5, 2021 9:41 AM

Well on my journey into the DCC world I have learned a lot. I have most of my fleet converted except for duplicates which will be my next purchace. Have bought all Digitrax stuff as I decided to mainly go plug and play 8 pin and Digitrax supports the older engines as far as product types better. The coversion I was most happy with are a couple of Atlas HH660's but all have worked. As far as layout the stuff all works but one issue with on a secondary that is a run arround and that is a stuart vo660, his big brother vo1000 dose fine and the other can go though but when I test at full bore it shorts out when it derails, only this engine and only here. I have not installed the AR1 yet and have not changed the main yard to DCC but that only involves switching a couple of wires but I have dicovered it is best to test in DC as mistakes don't shut down the world. No smoked decoders yet, knock on wood, and only major mishap was when I made insulated joiners into non-insolated ones when I left a caulk gun on the track, annother minor one is I wired a track isolateing switch upside down and panicked and as highly detailed pair of cars hit the floor, only one was damaged and the other has been mainly repaired.
