Bachmann On30 25127 Christmas Closed Street Car adding DCC
Posted by FR57 on Thursday, June 29, 2017 3:52 PM
Friends, I have a Bachmann On30 25127 Christmas Closed Street Car that I want to add DCC.
If you have experience with this can you suggest;
* a decoder that;
   - fits well (possibly describe how and where to mount)
   - is of the proper current for this Street Car
   - has sound capabilities for this era streetcar.
   - can control front, rear and in car lights.
There seems to very little info on the net.
This is a great Streetcar for a Christmas village and adding DCC puts it over the top.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
Can't figure out how to post the pict.
Write me back with your email if you'd like the pict.

The diagram shows it only as DC, not DCC ready.

Isolate the two motor leads from the pickups.

Use 1k, 1/;4 watt resistors for the LED's.

For the light bulbs, use 22 ohm, 1/2 watt resistors. Light bulbs have surge current when powered up which can shorten light bulb life.

A DZ126 decoder will work.

Some years ago I used a DZ125 decoder in the HO Plymouth, 0-6-0.

This assumes you have DCC install experience.
