Pi SPROG One, ESU LokSound, and New to DCC Issues
Posted by Smurphy on Thursday, January 19, 2017 10:48 AM

Hi everyone,

I am a DCC newby and finally figured how to wire up my Proto 2000 SD-9 to my ESU Loksound Select Decoder. After making some programming adjustments and running the locomotive through it's functions for an hour, I ran over a misaligned turnout causing a momentary 1-3 second short circuit. This appears to have scrambled my decoder. Now it continues to make some noises when track power is on but the throttle and functions are not functioning. I am trying to do a factory reset of the CV's using CV8 = 8 for ESU but every time I try to reset the CV's it changes some characteristics but not all and remains unresponsive to the throttle. After my most recent try, it seems now that the throttle is stuck in the on position and the loco want's to take off on me while i am programming. Could this be a SPROG issue?

Any help to get back up and running would be appreciated. Also, do I need some sort of short circuit protection on the system?

I don't have a programming track and just have a small 2 x 10 layout with only one locomotive on the track at one time. I am using a remote Raspberry Pi 3 with the Pi SPROG One setup using my desktop as the remote screen for Decoder Pro and JMRI.

Thanks ahead of time.
