First Post Here!
I have an atlas trainmaster genset loco that has a MRC 1916 in it. I was trying to quick solder a wire and had it on the track(under power....I know, I know, I k now). Touched the motor black to the front light positive by accident.....now engine wont run. All sound and lights still work but unit move at all. I am guessing i fried the motor?
In my opinion, you more likely fried the motor drive circuit of the decoder. Some decoders have a fuse on the motor drive wich may have blown.
To be sure, unplug the motor from the decoder and try feeding DC to the motor, either a 12 VDC source or a 9V battery.
BTW,these MRC decoders don't need much help to fry on their own.
Thanks for your response. Surprisingly, I reset the decoder and it started working again. The decoder looked like it was in pretty bad shape to begin with so Ill probably replace it soon.
