Athearn RTR Quick Plug DCC Ready
Posted by willy6 on Friday, January 1, 2016 3:39 PM

I bought some Athearn DCC ready locos. My intent is to MU them to my DCC / sound locomotives. Basically, have sound on lead loco and the non sound ones MUed. I should only need lights and motor for the non sound ones, will a 2 function decoder work for the Athearn RTR's or am i missing something?

2 function is fine if you just want front and rear lights. If you want to add ditch lights or a rooftop beacon you will need a decoder with more than 2 functions.
