The diameter of the device (is is no longer called a bulb) is irrelevent. Some LEDs (new Christmas lights, for rxample) are very bright, Others much less so.
What do you bean by "in series"? Do you think to put them on once circuit, or do you want them to flash one after the other (a good Idea, it would seem to me for lightening). LEDs wired in series is not a good practice, they should be across the circuit each in series with its own resistor.
LION "Rule of Claw" is 12v dc power supply and 1000 ohm resistor. Him worts not about calculations the numberants of which him knows knot. Reduce this number to make it brighter, increas this number to make it less bright. Titrate to taste.

I am thinking of using 2 LEDs in Series to create the lightning bolt for my project.
My question is this? If I use a 5mm bulb, does the greater the MA increase the brightness of the bulb? What happens if I use a smaller resistor?
