MTH HO ALCO FA units
Posted by rc guy on Monday, October 5, 2015 10:57 PM

Has anyone had any issues with these particular units ?  Two just went completely dead and two others now short out my layout when on the track, it happend while they were running. I had them at  7 speed out of 28. I was pulling 7 - 40' box cars and a caboose . I have a bunch of MTH F7's, a GG1, 2 GP35's and they run prefect. I recently took a liking to the FA units and picked up 7 of them but so far four have gone bad. I Run DCC MRC prodigy Elite. Can anyone help ?

I've run mine for hours on end at club shows, the only problem I have with them is when there is a power drop out, the sound stops instantly. If only one has had the sound cut out, then starting the first one kills the sound in the second one. But they do continue to run, even when silent. Definitely no issues with shorting, or going completely dead.

I have had nothing but problems with more of the MTH Products I have recently purchased. Even after I send them back for repair they still come back messed up. Most of the FA Units went bad and now the PA Units are giving me issues. My Atlas, Broadway Limited, Athearn loco's run like swiss watches. They never give me any issues.
